What Are Ethereum Gas Fees?

A user must pay a "gas cost" in Ether to transact on the Ethereum blockchain (ETH).

Gas fees given to Ethereum miners ensure transaction verification and network security. Gas prices dissuade malicious users from jamming the network. Ethereum's gas fee algorithm is dynamic, therefore fees can change. Ethereum's high fees and slow speed are common complaints. The gwei or gigawei is Ether's gas unit. Each gwei equals 0.000000001 ETH.te.

Method

To find the answer of following questions:

• How much did sushi users pay for gas in 2022?
• Is there a correlation with the price of ETH?
• Can you comment on the spikes in the chart?

I used lipside_prod_db.ethereum_core.fact_transactions, flipside_prod_db.ethereum_core.ez_dex_swaps, And flipside_prod_db.ethereum_core.fact_hourly_token_prices tables, and calculate the average of GAS_used by each user on 2022 .

So let's look at the findings.

Analysis

Observation

• The above chart shows the correlation between what Sushi users pay for GAS in 2022 with the price of ETH. The arrows indicate when fluctuations in price go up, then GAS used goes on an upward trend. So on April 3rd, when the ETH price from 3488 $dropped to 3087 $on April 11th, GAS dropped into a spike from 212.4k to 284.5k. We can say that in volatile times on the market, GAS fluctuations are high because of user activations on ETH.

In the next graph, the count of users per day vs. GAS used by each users are shown .

• As of two above number the total GAS that was paid by total users on 2022 to date is 418B GWI, and amount paid by each user is 219.8K GWI.

Findings in last graphs

• In the two last graphs, the paid fees in USD by each user are shown in a line chart that is compared with the $ETH average price in 2022. That shows volatile days in price led to fluctuations in paid fees.

• And in the last chart that shows the count of users per day in a bar chart and fees paid by each in a line chart, we can see that in the period of time from May 8th to May 11th, that count of users was in the top count in 2022. The paid fees were the highest amount in 2022.
