Transaction Failures (Osmosis Bounties)

Q6. Establish the failed transaction rate for Osmosis over the last 4 months. Make a case for what is causing the failed transaction rate that you assess and provide recommendations to mitigate it.

    Introduction

Osmosis is a fair-launched, configurable, and automated market maker for interchain assets. It enables the construction and operation of a non-custodial, self-balancing, interchain token index in a manner that is analogous to that of Balancer.

    Method

By looking at the msg_types of failed transactions in the osmosis.core.fact_msgs table, the type of transaction that results in the most failures is determined, and it's charted over time too.

    Analysis

    Observation

    • As of the above PIE chart, it's noticeable that more than 68% of failed transactions belong to tx type transactions, and all four other types are in a steady distribution.

    Conclusion

    • As same of the shown results in this dashboard, one can see that the Tx type of transactions has the highest failed transaction rate that was assessed, and the other four transaction types were in a steady distribution with almost equal percentages of shares. So we can say that tx, which refers to swap transactions, has the highest percentage of failed transactions with 68.2%, as shown in the last chart, which shows the daily distribution of failed transactions over the last four months. So I believe it occurs due to slippage on the swap price when an order is about to be filled, and it can be improved by setting an optimal slippage when trading.
