Deep Dive into FLOW Wallets Landscape
an analysis to show the landscape of wallets on Flow.
What is FLOW?
Flow is a decentralized, open-source blockchain designed specifically for the needs of developers and users in the world of digital assets and decentralized applications (dApps). It was created by Dapper Labs, the team behind popular blockchain-based experiences like CryptoKitties and NBA Top Shot.
FLOW aims to provide a scalable and developer-friendly platform for building and deploying dApps, with a particular focus on non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and digital collectibles. It introduces a unique architecture that combines a hybrid of Proof of Stake (PoS) and HotStuff consensus protocols, enabling high throughput and low latency while maintaining decentralization and security.
The FLOW blockchain offers a range of features and tools that make it suitable for a variety of use cases. It provides smart contract functionality, allowing developers to create and execute programmable logic within the blockchain. The platform also emphasizes user experience and usability, making it easier for mainstream adoption of decentralized applications.
One of the key advantages of FLOW is its focus on NFTs and the ability to handle large-scale digital asset ecosystems. It provides a secure and scalable infrastructure for creators, artists, and collectors to create, trade, and interact with unique digital items in a decentralized manner.

FLOW Wallets
A crypto wallet, like the Flow Wallet, is a software or hardware application that enables individuals to securely store, manage, and interact with their cryptocurrencies. It serves as a digital counterpart to a physical wallet, allowing users to store, send, receive, and monitor their digital assets. Crypto wallets use cryptographic techniques to safeguard private keys, which are necessary for authorizing transactions and proving ownership of the assets. There are different types of wallets, including software wallets (desktop, mobile, web-based), hardware wallets, and paper wallets.
Flow Wallets, which are specifically designed for the FLOW blockchain, cater to the management of FLOW tokens and provide features tailored to the Flow ecosystem. They ensure a secure environment for FLOW asset storage and facilitate interactions with Flow applications.
Flow wallets play a crucial role in the seamless operation of the Flow blockchain. They enable users to access their Flow accounts, facilitate fund transfers, and provide interaction capabilities with Flow applications. With a variety of options available, it's essential to understand the features, tradeoffs, and unique aspects of different Flow wallets.
Some wallet providers, like Blocto, subsidize the FLOW network fees for their users. As such, the payer for all of these transactions. it means that these providers cover the transaction fees on behalf of their users. By subsidizing the network fees, wallet providers contribute to the accessibility and adoption of the FLOW blockchain by removing potential barriers for users who may be unfamiliar with cryptocurrency transactions or hesitant to manage token balances for fees.

Methodology:
To begin our analysis, we initially queried Flipside's flow.core.fact_transactions
table to identify the top payers with the highest number of transactions on the Flow network. We further filtered these results by considering the TokensWithdrawn events, obtained by joining the previous table with the flow.core.fact_events
table. Additionally, we excluded results where the payer and proposer addresses were the same, as the proposer represents the FLOW user associated with the wallet.
During our investigation, we endeavored to find the actual names or labels for the identified payers. We utilized the flow.core.dim_contract_labels
table and conducted web searches to gather this information. Here's what we discovered:
