Conclusion

In this dashboard, We have seen a comprehensive analysis of Near.Social platform and its evolution over time. The activity of users and developers on this platform is increasing more and more over time in all terms. (registered users, created widgets, created posts, users’ activities & responses, etc). The 3rd week of February 2023 was by far the highest peak of users’ activity & registration in Near.social. The up-trend in these factors shows the healthy situation of NEAR.Social and gives us hope for the future of the platform.

Unlike other projects that have a certain time peak during their first days of launch, we saw that in Near.Social, with the passage of time, not only did the activity not decrease, but it also increased significantly over time. The main reason behind this performance can be the high activity of developers on this platform since we have seen there are more and more number of created widgets, widget creators & also widget-related actions over time.

What is NEAR Protocol?

NEAR Protocol is a decentralized application (dApp) platform and Ethereum competitor that focuses on developer and user-friendliness. Its native NEAR token is used to pay transaction fees and storage on the Near crypto platform.

Near Protocol is a layer 1 blockchain network. It provides a platform on which developers can build decentralized applications (DApps)

The key yardsticks for layer 1 networks are transaction costs, speed, and the ability to maintain those features as transaction volumes grow. These factors are the focus for layer 1s like Near to improve upon Ethereum, which has encountered issues with costs and speed over the last few years.

Near.Social

Near Social (previously known as Social08) is a NEAR blockchain-powered social network for valuable information and data exchange. The core idea of the platform is high valuable information and data monetization in a secure, transparent, and trustworthy way.

NEAR Social users can publish posts on the platform for free, or sell them at reasonable prices. The posts can include valuable ideas, investment opinions, software licenses, analytical reports, or other NFTs. Other users on the platform can buy these with NEAR tokens or sponsor the users. Also, users can follow each other to keep updated with the latest posts.

Widgets are the building blocks of the Near Social framework. They are reusable open-source components that can be used to build applications on top of the SocialDB contract. A widget can be a small component, like a button, or a large component, like a profile page, or even a whole application like a social network.

Dashboard Introduction

In this dashboard and On the occasion of the implementation and release of the new Flipside’s NEAR.social schema, I am going to Break out and document the activity happening on NEAR.Social as follows:

• NEAR.Social users and their evolution over time
• Profile change activity of NEAR.Social users
• Post creation & users’ responses to them
• Follows & Unfollows by NEAR.Social users
• Created Widgets on NEAR.Social and their evolution over time
• Average activity of NEAR.Social users in this platform
• Top NEAR.Social users based on various factors

According to the above data, there are 3510 users who have changed (updated) their profile and the total number of change actions is 5815.

The highest peak of profile editing was also achieved in the last week of February 2023. this trend shows an increasing interest in users to update their profiles to make them more personalized.

Also, we can see that the profile image is the most changed section by Near.social users followed by their name and Linktree.

According to the above-left chart, the main peak of creating posts in NEAR.Social by users have started from December 2022 which has a significant up-trend over time and the highest spike was achieved in the last week of February 2023, meaning that there are more and created posts & post creators on Near.social over time. Totally, there are 3890 created posts on this platform made by 2330 unique users.

As was predictable, the number of users’ responses to the created posts in Near.social is also increasing over time and there is a positive correlation between created posts vs responses to them.

Also, we can see more than 76% of responses are “Like 👍🏻” and the other 24% are “comments 💬” (because it’s easier to Like!)

Based on the above data, As it is obvious, the number of Follow actions & also users who have followed other users/pages in Near.social is way more than Unfollow activity (total and in all days).

Moreover, we can see that auroraecosystemnews.near is by far the top page with the most followers (697 followers) in Near.Social. the second most followed user is root.near with 254 unique followers.

According to the above charts, currently, there are a total of 1320 created widgets in Near.Social. The highest peak of widget creation was during December 2022 followed by February 2023 and the total trend line of is positively increasing over time meaning that there is more widget creation activity in Near.social over time and this is good news which shows the high & increasing activity of developers in this platform.

Moreover, we can see the over-time number of actions done on widgets (creations & changes) in the left chart. the overall trend on this chart is also positive which is good news that shows the increasing uses of widgets in this platform.

Also, the average use of widgets by users in Near.Social is 12 times.

In the above part, you can see the average activity & the allowance of the Near.Social users.

According to the above charts, the Near.Social user tonybatory.near is by far the most active user with the most done actions on this platform but the user mob.near has been active in more days than all other Near.social users and also created the most widgets on this platform.

Auroraecosystemnews is the user who has created the most posts in Near.social (56 posts) and the user Hypefairy.near has performed the most responses the Near.social published posts.

Blaze.near is the user with the highest allowance on Near.social. this means that he/she has received the highest rewards (11.25 $NEAR) by actively performing actions in Near.social.

Methodology

The main tables That I have used for this dashboard are new published Flipside’s NEAR.social schema:

• near.social.fact_addkey_events to calculate the total and over-time number of new Near.social users.
• near.social.fact_profile_changes to extract profile change actions
• near.social.fact_decoded_actions to analyze the users’ activities such as post & widget creations, responses, follows, unfollows, etc.

Profile Creations

Profile Edits

Using the profile edit option, users can edit their profile image, username, background (cover) images, description and bio, tags, linktree (a tool that houses all the important links (usually social media accounts or website or github) that users want to share with their audience) and etc.

Post Creations & Responses

Similar to other social media such as Facebook & Twitter, users can create posts in Near.social which can be texts, memes, images & etc. on the other hand, other users can respond to these posts via Like or Comment.

Follows & Unfollows

Similar to other social media, in Near.social, a user can follow other users/pages in order to see their posts in his/her feed. On the other hand, users can Unfollow users in order to no longer see their posts in his/her feed.

Widgets

Actions & Allowance

Allowance is the Award given to users for their activity on the Near.social platform.

According to the above charts, the activity on Near.social platform has also increased signifncatly over time as well as the total social allowance of users. The highest peak has achieved on the last week of February 2023. These trends show that the users are becoming increasingly active and motivated in Near.social.

The increasing allowance also shows that there are more and more rewards being distributed among users as their activity on Near.social is increasing over time.

According to the above data, there are total 7k wallets in Near.social platform and the majority of these users (72.5%) are active ones. the active users are who have performed actions (response to posts, created posts, updated profile, etc) on Near.social platform.

Also, we can see a quite positive trend of new first-time users on Near.social over time which has reached its highest number on the last week of February. more than 3280 users (almost equal to all created accounts before this date!) were created on this week which is a huge number!
