Outline
In this report, we are taking a look at the Snapshot platform. Snapshot is a decentralized governance platform that makes it easy to create and vote on proposals.
Many popular platform uses Snapshot to gather governmental votes from their users. Here are some top platforms that use Snapshot:
- ENS
- Gticoin
- Aave
- Sushi
We first take a look at some general statistics of Snapshot. Then, we look for popular spaces both by the number of votes and the number of proposal. Next, we take a look at the most active voters on Snapshot and finally we analyze the word cloud of proposal titles. In the last section, we deep dive into Gitcoin space on Snapshot.
Popular Proposals on Snapshot
Lets analyze the most popular proposals on Snapshot. The following table shows the number of votes per proposal, and the figure on the right shows the vote share of the top 10 proposals.
Our observations:
- The most votes proposal was on the ENS DAO Constitution with about 85,000 votes.
- The next 14 proposals belong to Arbitrum Odyssey.
- The top 10 proposals are responsible for 7.8% of the total votes cast on the Snapshot.

Most Popular Spaces - Based on Number of Votes
We are also interested in knowing which spaces are among the most popular ones. The figure on the right shows the top 20 spaces based on the total number of votes they gathered. We can see that arbitrum-odyssey with 22% vote share (among the top 20 spaces) is the number one space. after that, cake, opcollective and pancake are on the seconds to forth places, respectively.
Most Popular Spaces - Based on Number of Proposals
When sorting the spaces based on their total number of proposals, we find that pancake is the space with the most proposals offered. Among the top 20 spaces, pancake, snapshot, cake and huwacoin account for about 50% of the total proposals offered on Snapshot (among the top 20 spaces).
Remember that the figure on the right belongs to the top 20 spaces.
Top Voters on Snapshot
The figure on the right shows the top 50 voters on Snapshot platform.
We can see that most top voters, have voted around 700-1000 times. But the most extreme case belongs to `0xd9293636EE3Aa663fc563ADB0912B0705dAfb62c` with ENS name of tlmlit.eth, who voted 2816 times to-date.
Deep Dive on Gitcoin
Now, lets dive into GitcoinDAO’s space on Snapshot. Currently, Gitcoin is one of the most popular spaces on Snapshot. The following statistics shows how Gitcoin performed on Snapshot during its life on Snapshot.
An interesting observation is the limited number of authors on Gitcoin, only 34 unique addresses are offering proposals on Snapshot’s Gitcoin space.

Word Cloud of Gitcoin Proposals
Finally, lets take a look at what Gitcoin proposals are consist of.
The figure on the right, shows that budget request is the keyword that were used the most in the Gticoin proposal titles, followed by result of grant, payout matching allocation and community multisig.

When analyzing the words that proposals are composed of, we can detect a pattern. The figure on the right shows the word cloud of Snapshot proposals.
We can see that other than the word proposal, the words pool, treasury and governance are among the top 3 most used words in the Snapshot proposal’s titles. This shows us the general topics of Snapshot proposals.
