Part 1: How many wallets have pre-ordered Saga?

We counted the unique wallets that interacted with the mentioned program id, and we found that as of June 23, 2022, there were 104 unique wallets that pre-ordered the Saga phone.

Part 2: Other programs that Saga buyers interacted with

The following table shows all the programs that the Saga buyers interacted with since their initial transaction. We can see that the main programs that the buyers interacted with was the Solana Token itself.

There are 411 programs in this list. Which means excluding the programs designated to pre-ordering the Solana phone, there were 410 programs that the Saga buyers interacted with.

Part 3: How active are Saga buyers?

Now, we are interested in knowing how active were the Saga buyers. To find the most active users, we used the number of transactions they performed on the Solana blockchain, since their first one.

The following table and figure shows the number of transactions performed by each Saga buyer.

    Our observations:

    • The highest number belongs to a wallet with more than 21,000 transactions! The second and the third wallets, with a huge gap with the first one, had 6,769 and 5,989 transactions, respectively.
    • There are wallets in this list that had as few transactions as 1. This means that they only used their account to pre-order the Saga phone and nothing else. Though the number of these kind of accounts are very low. If we consider the purpose introducing a new phone was to absorb new users into the ecosystem, we can say the goal has not yet been made. Though it might change in the future.

    Outline

Recently, Solana introduced its Web3 focused mobile phone named Saga and it is up for pre-order these day. Buyers can reserve a spot by buying an NFT worth 100 USD.

For this question, we are taking a look at the wallets that pre-ordered Saga. We found that the program id for this purpose is 781wH11JGQgEoBkBzuc8uoQLtp8KxeHk1yZiS1JhFYKy.

    Average user or whale?

Finally, we want to know whether the buyers were normal users or whales. Whales are the wallets that have much more assets than average ones.

In order to find the current balance of each account, we used their final transactions' post_balances.

The following table shows the balance of each account sorted by their amount.

    Our observations:

    • The biggest wallet has about 391 Solana in its account. By today's price, it has about 15,000 USD worth of SOL. In my opinions we cannot classify this wallet as a whale, let alone the rest. But if we define a threshold of 10,000 USD as a definition for whales, the top 5 wallets of the following list can be considered as whales.
    • Most of the Saga buyers were ordinary users with average amount of SOL in their accounts.

The following figure shows the distribution of transactions each program absorbed from Saga buyers.

    Our observations:

    • The top 3 programs account for 14.9%, 14.7% and 11.1% of the total transactions respectively, and in total they are responsible for 40.7% of the transactions.
    • The top 10 programs had a share of 68.6% of the total transactions.

The following figure shows the SOL balance share of the wallets that pre-ordered Saga phones.

    Our observations:

    • The top 10 wallets account for 76.1% of the total SOL among Saga buyers.
    • The top 5 buyers (those that can be considered as whales) are holding to 66% of the SOLs. The rest are just average users.

    Conclusion

    1. 104 unique wallets pre-ordered the Saga phone.
    2. Saga phone was able to absorb some new users into the ecosystem but not many. This can change in the future.
    3. Most of the Saga buyers are ordinary users.
