What is Optimism?

• Optimism is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum. It helps reduce the transaction fee and transaction time on the Ethereum blockchain. Broadly speaking, Optimism helps solve Ethereum’s scalability dilemma. (Scalability refers to the rate of transactions per second (TPS) on a blockchain network.)

What is Perpetual Protocol?

• Perpetual Protocol (PERP) is a software project that aims to create derivatives and financial tools to enable users to trade a variety of assets. The protocol is a decentralized exchange (DEX) that uses a derivative, which derives its value from another asset, called a perpetual contract.

• Perpetual Protocol works similar to a centralized exchange. The main difference is instead of the exchange providing liquidity for the user's profits/losses, the money is collected in digital vaults that are ran by smart contracts and triggered every time a user wants to deposit and withdraw an asset.

In this dashboard, we are going to analyze the activity of Perpetual Protocol on Optimism.

The overview of Perpetual Protocol contract

• The total interactions (events) of Perpetual protocol is 6.8M. Also, the average number of active users of Perpetual protocol per day is 373 users. Its total users are 50.1 thousand users. Also, the daily changes in the total interactions of the Perpetual protocol show that interactions have increased in the early days of May 2022, and May 11 is the best day of interactions, with 134,522k interactions. Also, since June 2022, interactions have decreased, and in October, these interactions had a sharp drop.

• In the graph of the average daily active users, it can be seen that the number of active users has increased in the past few days, and the best day in terms of the number of users is November 2, with 1821 active users. In the graph, it can be seen that from September 20, 2022, the number of users is It has increased significantly. Also, in part of December 2021, the number of active users was high.

• The graph of daily changes of new users has the same trend as the graph of the average active user, and it had its highest value on November 2, 2022, and the number of new users has increased since September 20.

Clearing house users and interactions

The chart "Daily changes: Perpetual Protocol Clearinghouse Interactions by Token" shows that on most days, most interactions of the clearinghouse are by the vUSD token. Also, the chart "Daily changes: Perpetual Protocol Clearinghouse users by Token" shows that the users of the clearinghouse were more active with vUSD and vETH tokens on a daily basis.

You can see the weekly changes in the area charts. As you can see, the largest area in both charts is related to vUSD, and it has the largest area in all weeks. The noteworthy point is the decrease in the area of vETH from the beginning of January onward in both charts. In the "Weekly changes: Perpetual Protocol Clearinghouse User by Token (Normalized)" graph, we see an increase in vETH in September.

In the donut chart, you can see the Top Perpetual Protocol Clearinghouse tokens (by Interactions). vUSD has 50% of the interactions among the top ones. vETH is next with 5.88%. In another donut, you can see Top Perpetual Protocol Clearinghouse tokens (by Users). vUSD has 41.5% in this chart, followed by vETH with 19.8%.

Top Protocol Users

The daily changes of top users (top 100 users) and normal users (other users) show that on most days, the interactions of top users are more than normal users. But on some days in December 2021 and the beginning of 2022, the number of interactions of normal users is more than that of top users. The most interactions between top users and Norma are on May 11, 2022.

The graph "Weekly changes: Perpetual Protocol Position Change Events by User Type (Normalized)" shows that the Position Change Events by User Type of top users were higher than normal users in most weeks. Only in the weeks of December 2021 were there more Position Change Events by User Type than normal users.
