DEX Change
This week has highlighted the need for transparency & decentralization in crypto markets. Let's see how users have reacted to this wild week in Web3. Have behaviors changed? Analyze growth in Osmosis Volumes & User Count this week. Has more money flowed into Osmosis this week compared to the past few weeks/months? Where is this money coming from? Centralized Exchanges? Have wallets moved more into stables?
introduction
What is Osmosis?
Osmosis is a decentralized exchange that offers customizable automated market makers. This customization enables liquidity pool owners to create parameters that better reflect changes in market conditions, thus increasing market responsiveness. Osmosis is built using the Cosmos SDK, which means it is interoperable with other blockchains. \n
🧠Methodology
In this dashboard, we have analyzed the changes in the osmosis network and considered various variables in this network.
The following variables are analyzed in this dashboard:
- The number of daily transactions made by users
- Daily balance changes of Osmosis wallets
- Daily changes of the wallets’ Osmosis staking
- Daily changes of the Osmosis wallets’ liquid
- Daily changes of the stake transactions
- Swap done from other tokens to Osmosis
- Swaps done from Osmosis to other tokens
- Swap done from stable coins to other coins
- Swap done from other coins to stable coins
In this analysis, we have considered the last one month period to check the changes, and we have considered the changes since November 8, which is the date of FTX Collapse, to compare with the previous days.
To get the charts, we have used the following tables presented on Flipside:
- osmosis.core.fact_transactions
- osmosis.core.fact_daily_balances
- osmosis.core.fact_staking
- osmosis.core.fact_swaps
- osmosis.core.fact_transfers
- osmosis.core.dim_labels
This analysis was done on 16/11/2022
Review of the Tra
In this section, I have obtained the number of transactions and the number unique users that have performed a transaction in the Osmosis network.
To do this analysis I have used the osmosis.core.fact_transactions table, which is available on Flipside.
I have only considered the transactions with tx_status = 'SUCCEEDED' in my analysis.
The chart below shows the number of transactions made in the past month, which is divided into two periods before November 8 and after November 8.
In the bar chart, the number of daily transactions is shown, and the line is showing the number of unique users of that day.
Summary & Conclusion
In this dashboard I have analyzed the Osmosis blockchain’s change in the period of last month including November 8 which was the start date of FTX collapse.
To do my analysis I have reviewed data related to:
- daily transactions in the network
- swaps from Osmosis to other tokens
- swaps from other tokens to Osmosis
- swaps from other tokens to stable coins
- swaps from stable coins to other tokens
- the incoming and outgoing transactions of the Osmosis network
and I have obtained the following results:
- After November 8 there has been a slight increase in the number of daily transactions
- The most favorite tokens for swapping in the network are Cosmos and Osmosis
- The outgoing transactions have increased after November 8
From the data that was obtained we can conclude that after November 8 users tend to exchange their assets to stable coins in order to be safe from the changes of the market.
Review of the balance of the wallets
In this section, using the data in the osmosis.core.fact_daily_balances table, I have checked the daily balance of wallets in the Osmosis network.
For each wallet, I have obtained the amount of Osmosis in the wallet that was in the following two conditions, and I have obtained the total of this amount for all wallets on a daily basis.
where DATE > CURRENT_DATE -30
and BALANCE_TYPE = 'staked'
and CURRENCY = 'uosmo'
The chart below shows the total amount of Osmosis that has been staked in the wallets on a daily basis.
âś…Observations
According to the left charts, the most favorite tokens that users exchanged their Osmosis to are USD coin in the first place and Cosmos in the second place.
Although the amount of daily swaps from Osmosis to other tokens has increased after November 8 but there is a longer period of time after this date that the amount is higher in comparison.
According to the chart showing the amount of Osmosis to other tokens, we can say that Jackal and Wrapped BNB have the highest amount among the other tokens.
Based on the chart of the unique users that had performed swaps from Osmosis to other tokens the Jackal token had the most unique users.
Based on the chart showing the number of daily swaps from Osmosis to other tokens, the Jackal token has considerable numbers compared to other tokens.
Review of the liquid balance of wallets
In this section using the data in the osmosis.core.fact_daily_balances table, I have analyzed the daily liquid balance of wallets in the Osmosis network.
For each wallet, I have obtained the amount of Osmosis liquidated in the wallets that was in the following three conditions, and we have obtained the total sum of this amount for all wallets on a daily basis.
where DATE > CURRENT_DATE -30
and BALANCE_TYPE = 'liquid'
and CURRENCY = 'uosmo'
The chart below shows the total amount of Osmosis liquidated in the wallets on a daily basis
Review of the stake transactions
In this section, the data in the osmosis.core.fact_staking table, I have analyzed and obtained the amount of stakes , unstakes and redelegate done in the network on a daily basis.
In the charts below, we have displayed the transactions made every day based on the following items:
- The number of unique users who have made a transaction
- Number of daily transactions
- The total amount of daily transactions
The following are considered for the completed transactions:
where TX_STATUS = 'SUCCEEDED'
and BLOCK_TIMESTAMP::date > CURRENT_DATE -30
Review of the swaps
In this section, the data in the osmosis.core.fact_swaps table has been analyzed.
I have done this analysis in two parts.
First, I have analyzed the swaps done for the network's native token, which is Osmosis, and then I have analyzed the swaps done for stable coins.
To get the names of the tokens that have been swapped, I have used the osmosis.core.dim_labels table.
The following charts show the swap transactions in which the Osmosis token has been swapped for other tokens.
- The total amount of Osmosis that has been swapped to each token
- The number of daily Osmosis swap transactions to other tokens by token
- The total number of daily swap transactions from Osmosis to other tokens
- The number of unique users who have made a swap transaction from Osmosis to other tokens by day and token
- The daily amount of Osmosis swapped to other tokens by token and on a daily basis
The following conditions are considered for the swap transactions:
where TX_STATUS = 'SUCCEEDED'
and BLOCK_TIMESTAMP::date > CURRENT_DATE -30
and from_currency = 'uosmo'
âś…Observations
On October 28 there was the highest amount swaps to Osmosis in the last month.
The most swap to Osmosis was from Cosmos and then USD coin.
The most recent increase in the amount of swaps from other tokens to Osmosis were on November 8 and 9.
By looking at the number of unique users in the last month we can say that there was not an obvious and considerable change in the number of unique users that swapped to Osmosis.
Review of the swap to stable coins
In this section, we have reviewed the swap transactions made to stable coins
There are several stable coin tokens in the Osmosis network, the addresses are as follows:

I have considered swap transactions made from one of these stable coins to other tokens as swap transactions made to exchange stable coins to other tokens.
One of the things that should be subtracted from the amounts obtained for the transactions is the transactions made to exchange one stable coin to another stable coin because the value of these stable coins is the same and I have not brought exchanging them to each other in my reviews.
The following were obtained for these charts:
- The total amount of swapped stable coins for each token
- The number of daily swap transactions from other tokens to stable coins by token
- The total number of daily swap transactions from stable coins to other tokens
- The number of unique users who have swapped stable coins to other tokens by day and token
- The daily amount of stable coins swapped from other tokens by token and on a daily basis

âś…Observations
When users want to prevent from the consequences of the changes in the market, they exchange their assets to stable coins because of their stable prices.
Based on the charts the highest amount of swap to stable coins were on November 8 and 9.
The highest amount of tokens that swapped to stable coins belongs to Cosmos and Osmosis.
Review of swaps from stable coins
In the charts below, I have checked the swap transactions made from Stable coins to other coins.
In the charts below, the following are obtained:
- The total amount of stable coins swapped to each token
- The number of daily swap transactions of stable coins to other tokens by token
- The total number of daily swap transactions from stable coins to other tokens

Review of the input and output of Osmosis
In this section I analyzed the data of the osmosis.core.fact_transfers table.
I have divided the transactions made in this network into the following three categories based on the TRANSFER_TYPE parameter.
details on the type of transfer occurring during the transaction. "ibc_transfer_in" = depositing tokens onto osmosis. "ibc_transfer_out" = withdrawing tokens from osmosis. "osmosis" = wallet to wallet transfer on osmosis.
Considering that there are only three types of transfer transactions in the network, which are either incoming transactions, outgoing transactions, or transactions between network wallets.
In this section, we consider and review the incoming and outgoing transactions to the network in the last one month
âś…Observations
according to the charts showing the amount of swaps from and to stable coins we can conclude that although the highest amount belongs to November 8 and 9 in both charts, there were more swaps to stable coins than from stable coins.
In the last month Cosmos was the most favorite token that users swapped from stable coins to.
The first chart on the left shows that the number of unique users that have done unstake and redelegate transactions were low over the last month but the number of unique users that have staked Osmosis have increased significantly after November 8.
The middle chart shows us that the number of the unstake and redelegate transactions were low throughout last month but in comparison to them the number of stake transactions were high and increased after November 8.
The last chart shows that in the last month the total amount of redelegate and stake transactions were low except for a few days that the numbers changed a little. The total amount for the unstake transactions on most days was low except for a few days among these days October 26 was the most special and considerable one.
Review of the input and output networks to Osmosis
In this section, I analyzed the incoming and outgoing transactions of the Osmosis network based on the source and destination blockchains and calculate the number of transactions made.
To specify the source and destination networks, it is necessary to use the data in the axelar.core.fact_transfers table.
By using the data in this table, we can determine the input and output network of a transaction
where BLOCK_TIMESTAMP::date > CURRENT_DATE -30
and SENDER like '%osmo%'
and TX_SUCCEEDED = True
Review of swap transactions made from other tokens to Osmosis
In this section, we have displayed the swap transactions made from other tokens to the Osmosis token
The total amount of osmosis swapped from each token
The number of daily swap Osmosis transactions from other tokens by token
The total number of daily swap transactions Osmosis to other tokens
The number of unique users who have swapped to Osmosis from other tokens by day and token
The daily amount of Osmosis swapped from other tokens by token and on a daily basis
The following conditions are considered for these charts:
where TX_STATUS = 'SUCCEEDED'
and BLOCK_TIMESTAMP::date > CURRENT_DATE -30
and TO_CURRENCY = 'uosmo'
