    Hello everyone! Bored Ape Yacht Club is one of the most popular and expensive NFT collections in crypto. But meanwhile This collection also is a very exciting case for the hackers as there have been several cases of theft of Bored Ape Yacht Club so far.

    On this dashboard we are tracking the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s discord hack on 4th June 2022 and finding what happened after this hack.

    How did it happened?

    On 4th June 2022, The hacker hacked one of the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Discord moderators account and take control of it. He shared a scam giveaway link by this account in their official Discord, After that some people rushed into it without checking the address and gave access to the hacker to send the their NFTs to his own wallet, so then he was free to sell the NFTs in a short time and complete the process.

    How many NFTs were stolen? How many wallets damaged from this hack?

    This is the first questions we are trying to answer on this research:


    As we see 32 different NFTs has been stolen from 11 different wallets, which is almost 3 NFTs per each wallet on average.

    Methodology

    For finding out what happened during this hack, we will use Flipsidecrypto’s Ethereum databases which are accessible here at: https://app.flipsidecrypto.com

    and the hacker address, which can be seen here:

    What collections had been stolen by the hacker?


    As we see the NFTs stolen by the hacker were from 20 different collections.

    “Otherdeed for Otherside” collection had the highest share on this phishing with 6 NFTs (18.8% of total share)

    Also We can see we have 3 different bored Ape type collections had been stolen here: 2 Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFTs, 1 Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT and 1 Bored Ape Kennel Club NFT.

    How much the hacker earn from stolen NFTs?

    For answering this question we look at the hacker’s selling activity after stealing the NFTs:


    The hacker earned 289k $USD from selling the stolen NFTs and the “Bored Ape Yacht Club - 3215” was the most valuable stolen NFT with almost 159k $USD sale price, After that “Mutant Ape Yacht Club - 3197” with 31.88k and “Otherdeed for Otherside - 3179” with 31.79k $USD was the next most valuable ones.

    How the hacker sold the stolen NFTs?


    As we see the hacker started the selling process with Goblin Town and Muri by Haus, and ended it with Bored Ape Yacht Club selling, and it took 44 minutes for him to sale stolen NFTs.

    And it’s interesting the last sold NFT was the highest valued one.

    Is there wallets that bought back NFTs from the same collection that was stolen?

    4 wallets (36.4% of total victim wallets) bought back again from the same collection they had lost during the hack. The Diagram on the left side shows the collections these wallet bought a NFT from them after losing their own.
