What is Ethereum ? brief intro

Ethereum is a decentralized open-source blockchain system that features its own cryptocurrency, Ether. ETH works as a platform for numerous other cryptocurrencies, as well as for the execution of decentralized smart contracts.

Ethereum was first described in a 2013 whitepaper by Vitalik Buterin. Buterin, along with other co-founders, secured funding for the project in an online public crowd sale in the summer of 2014. The project team managed to raise $18.3 million in Bitcoin, and Ethereum’s price in the Initial Coin Offering (ICO) was $0.311, with over 60 million Ether sold. Taking Ethereum’s price now, this puts the return on investment (ROI) at an annualized rate of over 270%, essentially almost quadrupling your investment every year since the summer of 2014.

The Ethereum Foundation officially launched the blockchain on July 30, 2015, under the prototype codenamed “Frontier.” Since then, there has been several network updates — “Constantinople” on Feb. 28, 2019, “Istanbul” on Dec. 8, 2019, “Muir Glacier” on Jan. 2, 2020, “Berlin” on April 14, 2021, and most recently on Aug. 5, 2021, the “London” hard fork.

Ethereum’s own purported goal is to become a global platform for decentralized applications, allowing users from all over the world to write and run software that is resistant to censorship, downtime and fraud.

Methodology

In this dashboard i want to show you what is going on , on Ethereum after news about FTX & Alameda’s Balance Sheet came out at Nov-02-2022 .

I decided to show you what is happening on DEXs of Ethereum platform because it was interesting to me to see how users react on this bear market .

Firstly i will show you some general chart about Ethereum transactions before and after Alameda’s Balance Sheet news and then i will deep dive into topics like swaps , swappers , volume of swaps , distribution of swaps , inflow and outflow of ETH token and etc..

I will use ethereum.core.fact_event_logs table to get data and information about transactions and active users on Ethereum blockchain .

I will use ethereum.core.fact_hourly_token_prices to get ETH token’s USD price at daily basis .

I will use ethereum.core.ez_dex_swaps to get data and information about swaps , swappers , volume of swaps and etc...

I will use ethereum.core.ez_eth_transfers table to get data and information about inflow and outflow of CEXs base on ETH token before and after FTX news .

I will use ethereum.core.dim_labels table to get CEX’s labels with contract addresses that we extracted from ethereum.core.ez_eth_transfers table .

Conclusions

According to all data , information and visualizations we saw in this dashboard we come to these conclusions :

We saw daily swaps and unique swappers growing after Alameda’s Balance Sheet came out .

We saw ETH token swaps , swappers and specially volume of swaps after FTX news increased so much than before .

We saw volume of ETH token swapped to other tokens was increased so much after FTX news and at Nov-10-2022 total USD worth of 26.4B ETH token swapped to other tokens .

Also we saw USD volume of other tokens swapped to ETH token increased so much after FTX news and We saw several spikes since 8th November which volume of swaps to ETH token reached to 2.18B at Nov-09-2022 which was so huge and way more greater than volume of swaps at other days so far at shown timeframe .

According to the chart about volume of ETH token transferred to CEXs we saw after Alameda’s Balance Sheet news came out volume of ETH token transferred to CEXs increased and at Nov-10-2022 total 3.7M ETH token moved to CEXs .

Also According to the chart about volume of ETH token transferred from CEXs we saw After Alameda’s Balance Sheet news came out volume of ETH token transferred from CEXs increased and at Nov-09-2022 total 3.88M ETH token moved from CEXs and we can see several spikes days before and after 9th November .

According to above and left two charts about swaps and swappers on Ethereum before & after Alameda’s Balance Sheet news came out we can see little bit of growth on swaps and unique swappers on DEXs after Alameda and FTX news came out specially we can see number of unique swappers reached to 46.93k at Nov-09-2022 which is highest number of unique swappers on this shown timeframe.

According to above and left two charts about swaps and swappers of ETH token on Ethereum before & after Alameda’s Balance Sheet news came out we can see significant growth on swaps and swappers of ETH token after FTX news comes out .

We can see number of unique ETH token swappers reached to 40k at Nov-09-2022 which is highest number of ETH token at this shown timeframe also number of ETH token swaps reached to 130k at this date which is also highest number of ETH token swaps at this chart and shown timeframe .

By looking at the left chart about USD volume of ETH token swaps we can see after FTX and Alameda’s Balance Sheet news came out we can see several huge spikes .

At Nov-10-2022 total volume of ETH token swaps reached to 28.25B $ which is highest volume of swaps at shown timeframe and two days before this day also volume of swaps was super high .

According to the left and above charts about daily swaps and swappers who swapped tokens to ETH token we can see growth on both swaps and swappers of other tokens to ETH token .

We can see at Nov-09-2022 number of swaps to ETH reached to 77.15k which is highest number of swaps so far at shown timeframe and also we can see number of unique swappers to ETH token also growing and reached to 26k at Nov-08-2022 which significantly increased .

According to the left chart about daily USD worth of swaps to ETH token we can see significant growth on volume of USD swapped to ETH token after Alameda’s Balance Sheet and FTX news came out .

We can see several spikes since 8th November which volume of swaps to ETH token reached to 2.18B at Nov-09-2022 which is so huge and way more greater than volume of swaps at other days so far at shown timeframe .

According to the left and above charts about swaps and swappers from ETH token to other tokens we can see unlike previous chart about swaps to ETH token that saw significant growth , here we can see no big effect and daily swaps and swappers after Alameda’s Balance Sheet news .

According to the left chart about USD worth of ETH tokens swapped to other tokens we can see several huge spikes .

We can see at Nov-10-2022 total 26.47B $ worth of ETH token swapped to other tokens which is highest volume of swaps so far at shown timeframe .

We can find out total swap out volume of ETH token which is 26.4B is way more than total swap in volume which is 2.18B USD this shows huge outflow of ETH token .

We can see swaps from stable coins like UDC , USDT and DAI increased and interesting thing here is swap from FTX token increased so much than before .

We can see USDC is most favorite token source that swapped to ETH token which at Nov-09-2022 total 1.32B USDC swapped to ETH token .

Also interesting thing here is we can’t see FTX token among top 5 daily swapped tokens to ETH which previously we saw it was among top 5 swapped tokens to ETH base on swaps and swappers after Alameda’s Balance Sheet news .

At the left chart about top 5 tokens that swapped from ETH token we can see USDC , USDT , DAI , WBTC and FTX token are most favorite tokens that swapped from ETH token after FTX news came out at Nov-02 -2022.

We can see significant growth at number of swaps to other tokens from ETH after Alameda’s Balance Sheet came revealed .

By looking at the left chart about USD volume of swaps from ETH token to other tokens we can see huge growth and several spikes after FTX news came out .

At Nov-10-2022 total worth of 7.6B USD swapped to BUSD from ETH token which was so interesting because we can’t see BUSD among top 5 daily destination tokens .

We can see after Alameda’s Balance Sheet news came out USD worth of swaps to stable coins increased so much and at Nov-10-2022 reached to highest volume of swaps so far at shown timeframe.

According to the left chart about daily top 5 CEXs that ETH transferred to them base on volume of ETH we can see after Alameda’s Balance Sheet came out volume of ETH transfers to binance increased so much and reached to 2.35M ETH token at Nov-09-2022 also volume of ETH token deposited to coinbase and kraken increased after FTX news came out at Nov-02-2022 .

According to the left chart about daily top 5 CEXs that ETH transferred from them base on volume of ETH we can see after Alameda’s Balance Sheet came out volume of ETH transfers from binance increased so much and reached to 2.64M ETH token at Nov-09-2022 also volume of ETH token transferred from coinbase and kraken increased after FTX news came out at Nov-02-2022 .

And interesting thing is FTX was always among top 5 ETH token sources but after Nov-09-2022 we can’t see FTX anymore .
