Question:

• Do certain miners prefer mining blocks with lower transaction count?
• Do certain miners only mine blocks with high transaction count?
• You can define what can be considered low or high transaction count based on the transaction count distribution.

Approach:

This analysis has been done with data provided by Flipside and the main table that used to determine the required metrics is ethereum.core.fact_blocks.

The distribution by transactions count are:

• when TX_COUNT <= 20 then 'a. under 20 TXN'
• when TX_COUNT between 20 and 100 then 'b. 20-100 TXN'
• when TX_COUNT between 100 and 200 then 'c. 100-200 TXN'
• when TX_COUNT between 200 and 400 then 'd. 200-400 TXN'
• when TX_COUNT>=400 then 'e. over 400 TXN'

Key findings:

Based on the introduced bucket by count of transactions, the following statements have been obtained:

• The largest group of miners occurred for blocks with under 20 TXN with 4531 distinct miners.
• Additionally, the 188 distinct miners have been mined blocks with over 400 TXN.
• In the final days of June, 2022 the number of blocks has been reduced as can be seen.
• On May 12, 2022 which appointed for Market downturn has the highest number of miners for blocks with over 400 TXN and its because of network congestion.

Key findings:

• Wants to figure out the certain miners for extra low or high transactions count. The extra low transactions considered as 20 TXN and extra high considered as 400 TXN.
• 3216 distinct miners only mined blocks with under 20 TXN so by considering the results of previous bar chart, the 1315 distinct miners mine various blocks.
• Wants to identify some certain miners that mined blockchains with both very high and very low transactions count. As can be seen, the 576 distinct miners mine in the edge points (extra high and low TXN) of blocks on Ethereum.
• The most active miners on both edge points have been determined and displayed in the bar graphs.
• Only 69 distinct miners mine blocks with over 400 TXN on Ethereum and these miners considered as certain miners only mine blocks with high transaction count

Final words:

Certain miners have been mined on special blocks with low or high TXNs. The high TXN miners have been perform on the congestion dates of blockchain. As shown some of the miners are active on mining very high or very low TXN count blocks.
