Realms vs Snapshot

    Question

Create a dashboard that shows how Realms and Snapshot are growing and used in comparison to one another.

Feel free to build off previous bounty work on these platforms.

    • What trends do you see between governance behavior between the two chains?
    • Does a platform seem to capture more market share of its users on their respective chain than the other?
    • What seems to influence voting behavior on each platform?w
    • Does one platform have more proposals and voting opportunities than the other?
    • Are whales more powerful on Realms or on Snapshot? How can each platform become more decentralized?

    Approach

    METHOD

    • Based on my previous dashboards about Realms and Snapshot , I have analyzed some metrics on Realms and Snapshot, using FlipsideCrypto data.
    • Metrics provided in this project are
      • daily votes per voter comparison
      • Daily Number of Votes casted on each Platform
      • Daily Number of Proposals on each platform
      • Cumulative Number of voters on each platform
      • Number of Votes / Voters / DAOs by Platform
      • Voter count per DAO by Platform
      • Votes count per DAO by Platform
      • Proposal coun by Platform
      • Vote count per Voter by Platform
      • Proposal count per DAO by Platform
      • Market share of users count - %
      • 20 top proposals in terms of votes casted on each platform
      • Whales impact

    Based on the charts :

    • Daily number of votes and voters in Snapshot is far higher and is not comparable to Relams,bu in coth platforms, ==daily votes per voter== fluctuates from 1.5 to 2.5 in the past 75 days.
    • Average votes per voter for Realms is 4.58 and its 3.12 for Snapshot
    • Number of proposals in Snapshot is 8249 and its 1714 for Realms . Proposal count per DAO is 7.3 for realms and 3.8 for Snapshot.
    • Voting power in Snapshot can be any number in a wide range, but its 0 or 100 in Realms. so, calculating the whale impact is so easier in the Snapshot. I decided to define whales as any voter who had a voting power > 100 in snapshot. and then counted the number of votes and total voting power and also the impact as (voting power * number of votes)
    • ==the results show that snapshot is more dominated by whales==

    Introduction

Snapshot is a decentralized voting system. It is a multichain platform where EVM-based projects can create proposals for people to vote based on their voting power. Like other voting systems, voting power is always the key to passing or failing a proposal. One of the uniqueness of Snapshot is that the voting transactions made on the platform are fee-less as they don’t utilize the on-chain verification, but a decentralized storage network called IPFS. You can refer here to learn more and refer here to find more proposals.

    Realms

    • again It can be said that, Snapshot is much more dominated by whales than Realms because its a wide range for voting power in Snapshot than Realms which is only 0 or 100.
    • In terms of decentralization, I think a platform could become more DEC if define a tool besides voting power and number of tokens to prevent the dominance of balance in the decision making for all system
    • It can be seen that in the Snapshot, the Ethereum Network had attracted more voters and get more votes among in other networks, so , the first we can say is that, people take part more in Ethereum Network’s voting programs. then , in the first 20 popular proposal, Arbitrum Odyssey poll had attracted a high number of voters, so , this kind of polls are popular among in voters. third important factor in getting more voters is increasing the number of proposals. this is also true an Realms and any other voting platform
    • In terms of Reams, the Imperium of rain DAO had attracted ~60% of voters in the last 75 days.
