Active Wallets on Terra

Define "Active Wallets" on Terra. Based on your definition, display the active wallets by day, month, and Year-To-Date in 2022.

    Introduction

For this Bounty, I will investigate how many active wallets there are within Terra - on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

An active wallet can be understood as a unique wallet which has made at least one transaction within the past 90 days (3 months). Any wallet that has not made any single transaction within that time frame will not be included in this analysis, as it will be considered as a 'dead' wallet.

Here we can see the count of active wallets on a daily basis. I'm happy to see a very upward trend, it looks like users continue to use Terra and are not forgetting their wallets! In order to get a bigger picture, I will look into a weekly and monthly timeframe next.

    Active Wallets: WEEKLY

Again, a very upward trend is visible, which is a good sign! However, we can also see a massive dip on April 25th... I wonder what could be the reason for this? I don't think there is anything to worry about, I'm pretty sure that this is caused by the incompleteness of the data on the current day, as the week is not over yet! What is the most important insight here - is that the weekly unique active wallet count has grown almost exponentially since last year, it has grown from around 20 thousand to around 140 thousand, which is a 7x increase - and I think Terra should be proud for achieving this! The spikes in the count of active wallets can be correlated with the launch of new Terra based protocols, such as Astroport or Mars.

    Active Wallets: MONTHLY

Lastly, the final chart of this Bounty shows us how many active wallets there have been on a monthly basis. As mentioned before, the final dip is caused by the incompleteness of the data and the month of March not being over yet - there is nothing to worry about in that singular data point. The most crucial message here is that the monthly unique active wallet count has grown since last year from around 40 thousand to around 350 thousand, which is a 8.75x increase - AMAZING!

    Conclusion and further steps

This dashboard has shown that the growth of Terra is not stopping yet, people are vigorously using their wallets and I'm happy to see an upward trend in all of the graphs presented here. In order to get an even better idea of what is going on, my next step would be to look at further metrics, such as the average transaction number per wallet and their total average amount. However, the count of unique active addresses is a good start to exploring where the growth of Terra is heading!
