Fourth part of the Journey: The Arts District
A thorough analysis on the NFTs found on NEAR.
Introduction
In every city, on every continent, art is something that allows people to express themselves beyond words and actions. It is a crucial fundament of every culture and has its roots as deep as the Neanderthals, who more than 65,000 years ago, were making strokes in red ochre on the walls of caves. 65 centuries later, we are able to express our visions and ideas in a much more advanced way, in form of NFTs.
Your journey wouldn’t be complete if you didn’t stop in the Arts District of the City, at least for a few minutes!
In this dashboard, you will find the guide through the Arts District:
- Firstly, we will explore the overall stats, to understand how popular the creative side of Near really is.
- We then move on to the daily picture, where we analyse the number of transactions, sales, the volume of sales etc.
- After looking at the overall picture, we zoom into the specific contracts, to investigate which ones have been the most popular amongst Near’s users, as well as which projects have been the most expensive on average, and which ones had the highest floor price.
- Lastly, just to show you what you can find in the Arts District, a quick dive into some of the most popular projects, and what they offer.
Enjoy!
The calculations do not include the Current Date as it will always be incomplete until the day ends.

The most popular NFT Marketplaces in the City of Near are the following:
- Paras
- Mintbase
- UniqArt
- Apollo42
- Few and Far
- Seatlab.
Each one of them offers a very similar product, with different service fees or minting tools. Some of these marketplaces haven’t launched yet - such as Few and Fear or Seatlab. In a later section of this dashboard, we will explore which collections are thriving the most on Paras - let’s dive in!
Key insights:
- The general interest in NEAR’s NFTs seems to be declining - we can see that the total number of transactions has been decreasing since about April this year. This is what we would expect in a bear market though; users are scared of the markets crashing and therefore don’t want to invest in NFTs. It looks like there is a lot of hope for NEAR, and once the bear market is over, the NFT side of NEAR should recover quickly too!
- The sales volume is quite large, we can see that at the peak, users spent over 64k NEAR on NFTs - which is not a small number!
- By looking at the daily numbers of buyers and sellers, it is quite interesting to see that there are always more buyers present on the marketplaces than there are sellers. What does this mean exactly? It means that on average one seller will make more than one sale, which is also good news for the artists.
- The averages tell us that the NEAR’s NFTs aren’t very expensive. We can see that the highest average price for one NFT was 39.6 NEAR on September 19th 2021, but has now decreased quite significantly - with the average price lately being between 4 and 13 NEAR.
- We can also see that the averages are higher for buyers than for sellers on most days - which means that buyers are more likely to buy more expensive NFTs.
The next stop on our journey: the exploration of the most popular contracts related to NFTs. We will focus especially on Paras, one of the most popular NFT marketplaces on Near. Which projects have been thriving the most lately, and which ones have attracted the most users? Let’s find out!
Key insights:
- We can see that the biggest number of transactions can be found on Paras, which is not a surprising result, it only reinforces the idea of how popular Paras really is!
- We can also see that the rest of the projects have somehow had a similar number of transactions, such as Kokumo KongZ with over 5k transactions or NEARNauts with also over 5k transactions.
- The biggest sales volume is seen again, on Paras. When it comes to the individual projects, we can see that the Antisocial Ape Club is the winner here - it’s quite surprising to me that one NFT project managed to be so successful on multiple blockchains - everyone knows how famous Antisocial Ape Club is on Ethereum!
- The average price per NFT per project tells us which projects have been the most expensive. We can see that users spend the most, on average, on Antisocial Ape Club and on Skullingham Estates, as well as on the Secret Skellies Society.

Next, I will look into some of the projects to see what art they have on offer! 🎨

Secret Skellies Society: The most expensive on average 💀
A Secret Society of 777 Skellies evading Grimm on the $NEAR blockchain attracted Near’s citizens with its unique designs. With the traded volume being almost 100k NEAR, it’s clear that users loved this project and supported it from the very beginning.
You can find more about the Secret Skellies Society on their website, where you can read their story and their utopian token! 💀
NEAR Misfits: Active for the longest time (from the Top 10 most popular NFT projects)
Misfits have been around since late November 2021, that’s a lot longer compared to other projects, such as NEARton, which has been around since only February of this year.
This NFT collection consists of the First Fleet of the Metaverse, including 1,600 Normies, 150 Zombies, 101 Skellies, 50 Meerkats, and 22 Glitches.

Kokumo KongZ: Cheapest on average (out of Top 10 NFT projects)
These pixelated, scary-looking, colour-full gorillas gained users’ interest by their dangerous looks and the promise to protect the $NEAR Protocol - a pretty cool concept!
You can find out more about this project on their website.

Conclusion
This is it, this is the Arts District… But wait! There is more! This dashboard only touched upon some of the most important metrics of the District, if you want to learn more, feel free to roam around, and maybe buy an NFT as a souvenir, to remember this trip forever?
There are many other NFT marketplaces available on Near, as I mentioned before. Paras also comes up with different initiatives, such as the very recently ended Arts Competition, where users were able to submit and showcase their creative skills in honour of the oceans and the environment (ended on 5th of June 2022) - pretty cool, right?
In conclusion, in this dashboard, we have looked at the overall picture for NFTs on Near. We have then dived deeper into the most popular contracts, and then analysed what are some of the most expensive on average or most popular NFT projects.
Now that your eyes have been blessed with some cool art, why not go back to the guide - it’s time to continue our journey, and learn more about the Government of Near next!
