Metamask vs. Other Platforms
This dashboard looks at swapping metrics on Metamask versus competing platforms.
Metamask is a cryptocurrency wallet that allows users to hold Ethereum and other ERC-20 tokens. It has a user-friendly design and web browser integration, making activities such as purchasing NFTs within the wallet quick and easy. Metamask is available as a browser plugin or an app.
We will compare swapping metrics of Metamask with Sushiswap and Uniswap. We will first look at the number of users swapping via MetaMask vs other platforms. We will then compare swap volume, transaction volume, average amount swapped, and swap fees. All data will be from the past two months.
Uniswap has by far the greatest number of users swapping daily compared to Metamask and Sushiswap. Most days saw around 9,000 to 15,000 users swapping on Uniswap. Metamask averaged around 3,000 to 7,000, while Sushiswap only had around 2,000 - 5,000 users most days.
Although Uniswap had the greatest number of unique users swapping each day, Metamask regularly generated more swap volume. Sushiswap had the least daily swap volume of the three. Swap volume dipped on all three DEXs from mid-May to mid-June, and has since increased.
The daily number of swap transactions conducted on Uniswap and Metamask have been neck and neck over the past few months, with Sushiswap lagging behind significantly. Both Uniswap and Metamask had about 15,000 to 50,000 daily swaps, while Sushiswap only had around 5,000 to 15,000 most days.
The daily average swap sizes for Uniswap, Sushiswap, and Metamask were all relatively similar over the past two months, ranging from about $2,000 to $5,000 most days. Sushiswap generally had the greatest average swap size.
While Uniswap and Sushiswap have a flat swap fee of .3%, Metamask's swap fee ranges from .3% to .875%, meaning it has the greatest swap fees out of the three DEX's.
In conclusion, Uniswap had by far the greatest number of daily users over the past two months, while both Metamask and Uniswap have a similar number of daily transactions. Metamask had the greatest daily swap volume over the past two months. Sushiswap lags behind in all categories except for average swap size, where it had the largest daily average swap size. Metamask has slightly higher swap fees than Uniswap and Sushiswap at a variable rate of .3% - .75%, while Uniswap and Sushiswap both have a flat fee of .3%.
