New Contract Usage on NEAR

This dashboard examines which new contracts that were introduced at the end of 2022 and in 2023 are gaining the most users and expanding the NEAR ecosystem. We will first look at an overview of new contracts created since November of 2022 and then take a deep dive into the metrics of three of those contracts.

    What is NEAR?

New contracts are constantly being deployed to the NEAR blockchain as developers continue to bring advancements and new products to the platform. Just under 2,000 new contracts have been added to the platform since November of 2022 (excluding updates to pre-existing contracts). In this dashboard, we will first analyze general metrics of new contracts added to NEAR, and then focus on three specific contracts which have garnered a large number of transactions and users. The three contracts we will focus on are from three different protocols, Paras, Few and Far, and Playible.

    Notes

    • A new contract in this dashboard is defined as one deployed after November 1st, 2022
    • We will not be including new contracts deployed that have the same name as existing contracts, ie. new contracts named Aurora or NEAR as these seem to be updates to already existing contracts

NEAR is a decentralized development platform that aims to provide a conducive environment for dapps by overcoming the limitations of competing systems. It operates on top of the NEAR Protocol, a proof-of-stake blockchain that incorporates several innovations to enhance scalability and reduce costs for developers and users. These innovations include a unique approach to sharding and a new consensus mechanism called 'Doomslug.' The NEAR Collective, a global community of researchers, developers, and thinkers, created the initial code for the NEAR Protocol and continue to support the project by providing bug fixes, updates, and developing the surrounding NEAR ecosystem. As the NEAR code is open source, anyone can join the collective and contribute to its development.
