NEAR Gas Guzzlers
Introduction
- Near is a layer-1 blockchain, it went live in April 2020, and before a year they released their rainbow bridge a bridge between NEAR the official token and ETH, users of near can have a “human-readable” account ID instead of public key hashes.
- But the theme of today is about gas usage, so i’ll focus on the top 7 programs with most transactions, and then look the total, average and max gas usage they have.

Aurora (57.3M tx) and app.nearcrowd.near (47.3M tx) have the most activity, after that every program has less than 3.5M of transactions, thats the reason is only a top 7, because the other programs doesn’t have the impact as the first 2 places.
- Aurora is a Ethereum Virtual Machine, and a bridge for ETH, this network provides layer-2 speed and scalability
- app.nearcrowd.near is a task program where users can win NEAR performing task
Most of the activity comes from the year 2022
Aurora is the program with most gas used as expected of a ETH related program.
Nearcrowd is in second place
v2.nearapps.near has a spike in March 2022, probably because of the valley of Aurora, so users were looking to bridge ETH with other apps.
- 2021 activity isn’t relevant in comparison with 2022, so for the next gas charts i’ll look only to 2022.
As expected Aurora has the biggest average gas fee except for some days in March 2022
But in Half June to Half July Aurora average gas fee it goes down.
Moment which v2.nearapps.near rises only to dissapear
And x.paras.near is for some days the program with higher average gas fee
Only to lose in the second half of july by Aurora again.
Aurora is the winner, with always in 2022 the maximum gas fee daily.
X.paras.near presents the second maximum gas fee until March 2022, but this isn’t the case in the past months
In June and July the second place is a constant daily fight by v2.ref-finance.near priceoracle.near and x.paras.near
Although Nearcrowd app has a lot of presence in number of transactions, gas usage is really low.
