Pool of The Week
What is the Question?🚨
Since the start of November, the Osmosis Support Labs team has run the Pool of the Week program, highlighting important and/or new pools within the ecosystem. What kind of impact has this program had on the liquidity of these pools?
Track LP volume in and out of these pools based on the following dates:
- 11/11/22 Pool 833 - stOSMO / OSMO
- 11/15/22 Pool 837 - IST / OSMO
- 11/22/22 Pool 840 - BNB / OSMO
- 11/29/22 Pool 634 - wETH.grv / OSMO
For each pool track from date above to present.
Analyzed Topics:
- Overall Pools Comparison Since Their Mentioned Timeframe
- Pool stOSMO/OSMO ID=833
- Pool IST/OSMO ID=837
- Pool BNB/OSMO ID=840
- Pool wETH.grv/OSMO ID=634
Introduction🚩
What is OSMOSIS?
Osmosis is a DEX protocol, which means it uses smart contracts to determine the price of digital assets, to produce liquidity via a peer-to-peer (P2P) methodology, and to exact trades between users. This approach to an exchange platform is known as an AMM — a DEX protocol that prices crypto assets in liquidity pools.

What is OSMO(Token)?
The Osmosis token (OSMO) is used to vote, stake, and provide liquidity throughout its pools. Superfluid staking, a process novel to the Osmosis protocol, allows users to stake assets to secure the network while simultaneously providing assets in a liquidity pool.

Method⚡
In this dashboard, i compared 4 pools: stOSMO/OSMO & IST/OSMO & BNB/OSMO & wETH.grv/OSMO to each other and analyze them after they become the best pool of the week. Best pool of the week is a new program that Osmosis recently hosted and it chooses the best pool of the week on each week among its pools.
I mainly extracted the data from ==“osmosis.core.fact_liquidity_provider_actions”== table in ==Osmosis.core== database provided by Flipsidecrypto and filtered the mentioned pools with their Pool_ID
.
I analyzed their stats in overall and daily angles after they become the best pool of the week and these dates has mentioned in the question above.
Also i only considered successful transactions with tx_status = ‘SUCCEEDED‘
In addition, i calculate the USD value of pools assets with the help of ==“osmosis.core.dim_prices”==. stOSMO equals to OSMO, IST is the Inter stabelcoin and pegged to 1$, for extracting BNB price i used ==“ethereum.core.fact_hourly_token_prices”== with Symbol=’WBNB’
and at the end the wETH.grv token equals to the ETH itself and can be extracted from Osmosis prices table.
Dashboard made on ==2022-12-07==
Findings👀
- In the charts above, i tried to compare 833 & 837 & 840 and 634 pools to each other after their selected timeframe that mentioned in the question.
- We clearly see that in terms of number of LP transactions, LPers and LP volume stOSMO/OSMO pool or #833 has the biggest stats among the other 3. We should mention that this pool highlighted as the best pool of the week on November 11th and I am analyzing it almost 1 month after that event.
- If we look to these stats from average volume’s angle, it is obvious that IST/OSMO or #837 pool has the highest average volume between others and most of it belong to remove LP with 837$ average volume over time since November 15th.
- BNB/OSMO or #840 pool has recorded the highest maximum volume among the other 3 with over 155K total volume and most of it was Adding LP.
- In a general view and putting all the pools together, pools were mostly recording Add LP in all metrics except average volume, over 65% of the whole average volume was Removing LP over time.
- stOSMO/OSMO pool recorded the highest amount of LP volume since its specific timeframe (November 11th) with over 1.2M total volume and accounting over 60% of the volume share between these 4 pools. BNB/OSMO will be in the second place with 684M volume and over 21% total volume share.
Findings👀
- After November 11th that this pool has been chosen for the best pool of the week, its number of LP transactions has increased slightly over time.
- This pool gained so much new LPers after that date especially on November 23th with 100 new LPer and over 165 Active LPers, it also recorded its highest daily volume since November 11th on November 23th with over 8M total volume and over 95% of that day’s volume was Adding LP.
- stOSMO/OSMO has recorded some big moves on its daily average volume chart on several days with mostly removing LP.
Findings👀
- This pool also recorded some big fluctuations after being the best pool of the week on November 15th and on some days its LP volume even reached over 300K.
- IST/OSMO pool or #837 has recorded the highest number of transactions since November 15th on November 24th with over 200 transactions and most of them were adding LP. It also recorded its highest average volume on November 26th with over 5.8K average volume in total and most of them were removing LP.
- In general, late November was very hot for this pool.
Findings👀
- This pool didnt react that much to its choosing event on November 22th and didnt record any serious move on its stats.
- But on daily average volume, we see that it spiked twice on November 23th and December 5th and went over 4K average volume on a single day, 3K more than other days since November 22th.
- On November 23th. the average volume was mostly removing LP and on December 5th it was mostly Adding LP.
Findings👀
- wETH.grv/OSMO pool after being the best pool of the week, recorded some big moves on its daily average volume chart on November 30th Dec 3th and Dec 6th.
- As a matter of fact this pool recorded its highest daily volume since November 29th on November 30th with almost 3K total volume and it was just adding LP.
- We can see that after November 29th, this pool’s number of active LPers has decreased day by day and recorded the lowest on December 6th.
- It also recorded a slight spike on December 5th in number of LP transactions with over 30 daily transactions.
Conclusion💡
- In general, this program put some slight effects on pools after they become the best pool of the week.
- This program mostly effect on pool’s volume and average volume.
- Between these 4 pools that i compared to each other, stOSMO/OSMO had the highest stats and it is bigger than the other 3. BNB/OSMO and IST/OSMO pools had close stats comparing to each other.
- These pools were mostly recording adding LP after their best pool of the week event except average volume, that metric mostly were recording removing LP.
- If we put all the pools together, over 80% of LP transactions, number of LPers and LP volume were adding LP over time.
