Introduction

What is Osmosis?

The Osmosis token (OSMO) is used to vote, stake, and provide liquidity throughout its pools. Superfluid staking, a process novel to the Osmosis protocol, allows users to stake assets to secure the network while simultaneously providing assets in a liquidity pool.

How do Cosmos Work?

IBC is a protocol that allows the transfer of tokens between two heterogeneous blockchains. But how can you build a network of blockchains using this possibility?

One idea is to connect each blockchain within the network directly to the others through IBC connections. The main problem with this method is that the number of network connections constantly grows in proportion to the number of blockchains. If there are 100 blockchains in the network and each of them establish an IBC connection with each other, there will be a total of 4950 connections. This number of connections gets out of control very quickly.

To solve this problem, Cosmas proposes a modular structure with two layers of blockchain: Hubs and Zones. Zones are ordinary heterogeneous blockchains, and hubs are blockchains specifically designed to connect zones together. When a zone makes an IBC connection to a hub, it can automatically access the other zone connected to it (to send and receive data and tokens). As a result, each zone should only have a limited number of connections to a limited set of hubs. Hubs also prevent double spending between zones; That is, when a zone receives a token from a hub, it should only trust the source zone of that token and the hub.

Question

With the launch of Flipside's new Balances table, let's take a look at how the story of Osmosis can be told through wallet balances. Provide insights into following metrics:

• How has the ratio of liquid to staked OSMO changed overtime?
• Are the top 100 OSMO holders the same now as they were at the start of the year?
• What is the current average OSMO per wallet? How has that value changed over time? Plot average OSMO/wallet against user growth.
• Do wallets normally hold a majority of OSMO, or another token? How has this changed over time?

Methodology

In this dashboard we will see:

• Token holders in Osmosis.
• The number of users with different tokens in Osmosis.
• The Volume of tokens that users hold.

In this case, we have used the following tables:

• fact_daily_balances
• dim_labels
• dim_prices

OSMO Balances

Observations

• The average inventory of OSMO has decreased by almost more than 75% since the beginning of this year

• According to the observations in the above charts, it can be concluded that the OSMO inventory has almost doubled this year

• It can be concluded that OSMO holders have increased more than 5 times this year

IBC Token Balances

Observations

• The value of the token balance in Osmosis of OSMO token is more than 80%
• A large volume is maintained by osmosis users, excluding Atom, ION, OSMO
• Most of the tokens have less than 90k holders in Osmosis, except for Atom and OSMO

Top OSMO Token Holders

Observations

• There are a lot more OSMO top holders than there were earlier this year
• Since the beginning of this year, the top holders of OSMO have been equal
• Top Holders on 7 days past 1.747B
• Top Holders on 30 days past 6.51B
