    Overview

Flow (FLOW) is a high-performance blockchain specifically for creating NFTs, games, and dapps. Similar to other projects on blockchain, retention is a crucial factor that should be understood by the Flow team.

This dashboard attempts to provide insights into user retention on Flow.

    Method

Retention is measured in two ways:

    1. The average time between two transactions of users on the Flow will be calculated and sketch it over time.
    2. The percentage of users being active in two consecutive weeks/months to the all active users will be computed.

To better understanding of the retention, the metrics will be compared with the leading Ethereum blockchain too.

    Average hours between two transactions

The graph next to this box compares the daily average time between two transactions of users over time. We can see that the average time between two transactions among ETH users is increasing. The same metric for Flow is significantly shorter.

To have a more accurate measure for retention we can exclude bots as they constantly make transactions.

The table below listed the identified bots operates on Flow.

Addresses with having more than 30 transactions in an hour are defined as bots.

    Bot excluded

We can see that the time between two transactions for an average Flow user is about 4hours and 45 minutes. However, the same metric for Ethereum users about two days.

The daily average time between two transactions over time when bots for both blockchains are excluded can be seen on graph below.

    Persistent users vs normal users

Below graphs show the percentage of users who executed at least one transaction in the past week and the week before to the users who executed at least one transaction the past week but not the week before. In fact, graphs show the percentage of dropped users in a week. we can see that the percent of one week sustained users on Ethereum is greater than on Flow.

The same measured for the period of one month shows the significant dropped users on Flow. For Ethereum the rate remains almost the same.

    Conclusion

Throughout this dashboard the retention on Flow was examined. Two methods were used. The average between transaction shows that users on Flow on average more frequently execute transactions compared to of Ethereum.

However, the percent of dropped users in one week and one month reveals that on Flow people much more sooner leave the platform in comparison with Ethereum.

We can conclude that users on flow are highly active in a short time period. It is still the network does not succeed to keep the users engagement on the platform.
