What makes a Top Shots moment valuable? (Part I)
Overview
Flow (FLOW) is a high-performance blockchain specifically for creating NFTs, games, and dapps.
NBA Top Shot is a platform built on top of flow through which user are able to buy, sell and trade NFTs of specific, officially-licensed video highlights. Video highlights are categorized into different NBA actions such as dunk/layup and block.
This dashboard investigates how play type influences NBA top shot NFT sales .
NBA top shot NFTs, so far, have been sold in three different marketplace. Graphs below show the daily number and amount of sales per marketplace over time. The data shows that majority of sales have placed in TopShotMarket V3.
Scatter plats below show the relationship between number of sales and amount of sales in USD per categories. In the left graph each marker represents a day and in the right graph each marker refer to the aggregate of each play type NFTs.
We can see from the right graph that RIM has the highest amount and number of sales. From the left graph we can see that Steal NFTs have been sold in the low number and amounts.
Graphs below shows the amount of sales per play types and the average amount of sales per play types.
We can see that while some types like RIM are popular and most common, other types like Dunk have been sold on average at the highest price in comparison to the other play type.
Interestingly, two pointers have been sold on average at the higher amount than 3 pointers. It is possible it is due to the rarity of 2 pointers as the left graph shows.
