FLOW Usage During the NBA Playoffs
Introduction
The NBA Playoffs is a post-season National Basketball Association (NBA) tournament held to determine the league champion.
NBA Top Shot is an NFT marketplace where sports fans can buy, sell and trade basketball video clips. Launched in 2020, NBA Top Shot is a partnership between the NBA and Dapper Labs, the creators of CryptoKitties.
In this dashboard, we're going to look at whether NBA playoffs semifinals have had an impact on the FLOW network and in particular the Top Shot NFT collection.
Approach
By looking at this website: [playoffstatus.com] , we can see all the schedules for NBA playoffs. In this study, we will use the schedules to examine any correlation between the games and activities on Flow network.
The timezone of the datasets in FlipsideCrypto is UTC + 0
, all NBA game schedules are in Eastern Time
, so to better understand the data, we need to change the timeframe of the data using convert_timezone('UTC', 'US/Eastern', BLOCK_TIMESTAMP)
.
In order to find the transactions done in FLOW network we have to use flow.core.fact_transactions
table, and to find the NFT sales data were are going to use flow.core.fact_nft_sales
table.
The newly added tableflow.core.dim_topshot_metadata
, provides useful data about Top Shot collection. We’ll use it to find out NFT of which team sold the most each hour.
Finally, 2022 NBA Playoffs semifinals started May 17 and finished on May 29, therefore we will be using WHERE BLOCK_TIMESTAMP BETWEEN '2022-05-17' AND '2022-05-29'
on most of our queries to get data for this specific time frame.
