[ENS][Q4] Claims & Price

    Make a scatterplot showing the relationship between ENS price and the number of airdrops claimed. Using the 'unearned income' model, where a registration's fees are 'earned' over the duration of the registration, what does ENS's income for the next year look like?

    • As we can see in the above chart, the launch of the Airdrop heavily skews the rest of the performance. In the next charts, we are going to take the first week and the rest of the duration separately.

    • Another note, this was a period of VERY HIGH gas prices! This doesn't seem to have stopped users from claiming their tokens

    General Notes about the math behind the revenue estimates:

    • It assumes only the base fee for the current registries active during/throughout the year 2022, no premiums (for re-registrations) included.

    • If a registry only lasts partially throughout the calendar year, its revenue is also partial.

    Eg:

    Base Fee (yearly, of a 5 letter+ domain) = $5

    Expiry:August 31st 2022, Contribution: 243/365 days = ~0.665

    Revenue = $5 * 0.665 = $3.33

    • Users display a strong urge to claim their airdrops above the 40-50 local bottoms. There is also a crowded cluster at the 70-80 price region, which will prove to be the top.
    • Similar behaviour to the first week, strong claim clusters in the bottom range (40-50$) and a similar behaviour toward the other extreme(top) range $70-80.

    • Beyond November the claims fizzle out as the majority percentage of eligible wallets have already claimed.
