Contracts and their Deployment

• We use the following filter:

  action_name = 'DeployContract' on

  fact_actions_events table to narrow down all receivers that are definitely contracts.

  \

• However, this alone is not enough as the same contract can be upgraded multiple times as the need arises and the same action gets called again.

  \

• To overcome this, we keep a track of the first time the contract was deployed, to distinguish between a genesis/new contract deployment action and that of an upgraded one!

• The upgrade/new contract deployment issue is showcased by the charts on the right. We can label the majority of the sudden spikes to upgrade contracts. Likely due to a protocol or app’s undergoing upgrades to a new version!
