    Dashboard Objectives

    • The dashboard looks at NEAR blockchain’s performance metrics while pitting the same against those of Ethereum & Solana.

    Author:

    Transactions Per Second (TPS)

    • One of the most contentious metrics is TPS. Some chains/developers tend to use this metric to boast about their chain’s performance/quality.

    • NEAR - 3 TPS,

      ETH - 13 TPS,

      SOL - 500 TPS

    • Quite strange that NEAR’s TPS is lower than that of Ethereum’s…Is it due to empty blocks/lack of traffic?

    • Solana is obviously the clear leader in the TPS sector.

    Block Time

    • Block Time is defined as the time taken to produce the next block.

      \

    • Only SOL seems to have sub-second finality.

      NEAR - ~1.1 seconds

      ETH - ~13.3 seconds

    Transaction Failure Rates

    • Percentage of transactions that fail out of total transactions a day.

      \

    • SOL very infamous for it’s absurd transaction failure rates. (>25%)

ETH with the lowest failure rates (<~ 5%)

      NEAR varying between 14-23%.

    • Given how NEAR is still in rather early stages, perhaps we should inspect the failure reasons.

It could just be the User/contract errors and not the chain’s issues!

    Empty Blocks per Day

    • Given the fact we observed NEAR’s TPS to be rather low, we wanted to glance at the empty blocks that happen per day.

      \

    • NEAR certainly has higher EMPTY blocks vs Ethereum…

    • Also strange that Solana has no empty blocks? 🤔
