    Description of work

In this dashboard, we want to analyze Optimism's first airdrop. This dashboard includes the following sections:

    1 - Optimism’s Airdrop#1

2 - Analyzing users who claimed the airdrop.

    • 1 - 2 Number of users who claimed the airdrop.
    • 2 - 2 Number of users who delegated their claimed Ops.
    • 3 - 2 Number of users who hold their claimed Ops.

    3 - Analyzing claimed Ops.

    • 1 - 3 Number of claimed Ops.
    • 2 - 3 Transferred Ops.

    4 - Conclusion

    1 - Optimism’s Airdrop#1

The Optimism Foundation’s Airdrop #1 rewards those who have been instrumental as early adopters and active users of projects in the Optimism ecosystem. To celebrate our Ethereum roots, The Optimism Foundation also want to welcome active L1 participants who can help scale Ethereum’s innovations, culture, and values to Layer 2. In total, 248,699 addresses are eligible to claim OP in this initial airdrop.

Optimism’s airdrop#1 has six sets of criteria. Two for Optimism users that target early adopters and active project users, and four for L1 Ethereum, which target active contribution, positive-sum behaviors, and active participation. Each set is distinct, meaning that an address can be eligible for multiple and allocated a sum of tokens accordingly.

As mentioned in the Optimism docs, 5% of the Op total supply tokens are allocated for the first Optimism first airdrop, which equals 214748364.8 Op tokens.

2 - Analyzing users who claimed the airdrop.

1 - 2 Number of users who claimed the airdrop

    Methodology

    • To find users who claimed airdrop, we use data from [optimism.core.fact_event_logs] table.
    • Airdrop contract address: 0xfedfaf1a10335448b7fa0268f56d2b44dbd357de
    • To find Op price, we use data from [optimism.core.fact_hourly_token_prices] table

    ✔️Observations

    • Airdrop claiming was started on May 31, 2022.

      \

    • In the first days of claim, the most significant number of claims were made by users.

      • The highest number of users who claimed airdrop was recorded on June 1, 2022(73062 users), May 31, 2022(40923 users), and June 2, 2022(9230 users).

      \

    • 149K users claimed airdrop, which includes 59.9% of total users who are eligible to claim airdrop.

      • 95.2% of users claimed their airdrops in June (67.7% - 100.84K users) and May (27.5% - 40.92K users).

        \

    • After a large number of users claimed airdrop in the early days, the price of Op dropped sharply (about 70% price reduction in two weeks).

      \

    • 39.1% of users(58.28K) have claimed between 700 and 1000 OPs, 26.6% of users(39.64K) have claimed between 700 and 1000 OPs, and 26.2% of users(33.11K) have claimed more than 1000 OPs

2 - 2 Number of users who delegated their claimed Ops

    Methodology

    • First, according to what is mentioned in section 1, we get the addresses of the users who claimed airdrop.
    • Then, using data from [optimism.core.fact_delegations]table, we find users that delegate Op after they claimed airdrop.

    ✔️Observations

    • 106.6K users have delegated their OP tokens after claiming airdrop, which includes 71.5% of users who have claimed airdrop.

3 - 2 Number of users who hold their claimed Ops

    Methodology

    • We consider the holder as the address that has not transferred any Ops after claiming the airdrop.

    • First, we get the addresses of the users who claimed airdrop, as mentioned in section 1.

    • Then we examine these addresses using data from ‍[optimism.core.fact_token_transfers]table.

      • If a user does not have any Op transaction after claiming airdrop, considered as Holder

    3 - Analyzing claimed Ops

    1 - 3 Number of claimed Ops

    Methodology

    • According to what is mentioned in section 1, we can get the addresses of the users who claimed airdrop and claimed OP amount from data of [optimism.core.fact_event_logs] dtable.
