Introduction

With a mission to plant trees and demonstrate how green NFTs created on Algorand can be good for the planet, Gilbert the Goanna has been created as the genesis piece of Algorand's Al Goanna series of NFTs, the design and modus operandi of the collection has been inspired by Algorand's carbon negative approach to creating a series of NFTs that also give back to the environment.

AlGoanna partnered with the Australian organisation Carbon Neutral to plant a minimum of one tree for every NFT created. Following the success of the first launch, the target number of plantings has risen to at least 5,000 trees during the project. These trees will be planted in the Yarra Biodiversity Corridor in South West Australia and will be protected by a covenant for at least 100 years.

As such, a wallet has been set aside for donations to the project to go towards planting more trees. Every ALGO raised by one of these methods will be deposited in a donation wallet for the planting of these trees.

The aim of this dashboard is to calculate how much ALGO has been raised in donations and if part of the donations has been distributed to any other wallet. Below, it can be seen an example of the NFT collection.

Methodology

As I said before, the objective of this work is to obtain information about the amount of ALGO that have been deposited in the donation wallet for tree planting. To do this, we will have to go to the payment_transactions table of Algorand inside Flipside Crypto to obtain the ALGO that have been deposited in the donation wallet 2XBL47CKYWTNAIVUQCTAMFBL75EXXRT3TBG2ZK7SOG7MDBER7Q3XNL77XQ.

Once the transactions have been filtered, we will calculate the volume of donations over time, and whether there have been movements from the wallet to other wallets. We will also see if some ALGO has been sent to a CEX.

Results

The first graph shows the volume of donations received on a daily basis. We can see that since the end of November, there have been donations every day. However, the number of donations is quite low despite some specific days. There are 3 days that have been important, where the volume of donations has been more than 40k ALGOs, which is a considerable amount. The total number of donations so far has been over 240k ALGOs.

The second chart is about the number of donors to the donations wallet. In this case, there are only 2 important days were the number of donors was higher than. For the rest of the days the number of donors were equal or less than 3. The cumulative numbers shows the total number of donations so far which has been 79 so far.

In numbers, a total of 53 different wallets have been donated to donation wallet address and become donors. These wallets have sent a total of 243.6 ALGO, which is an average of 2866 ALGO donated per wallet.

In the chart above, it can be seen the distribution of donations by each wallet. We have seen how there have been 3 main wallets that donated more than 80% of the ALGOs donated so far.

In terms of ALGO sent from the donation wallet, there have been 2 main sendings. The first one on February 3rd involving about 40k ALGO, and the second one on March 10th, involving 100k ALGO. All the ALGOs have been sent to the same wallet address as can be shown in the other chart. As this wallet it is not a CEX address, there has not had any donation to the CEX.

Conclusion

We have seen how the first ALGO donation Tree Planting have been carried out. We have seen metrics like the total ALGO received, as well as from which wallets these ALGOs were received. As well, we have investigated about some movements from the donation wallet to other wallets using these donations. So far, more than 43k trees have been planted.
