Introduction and methods

Osmosis is a network, developed through the Cosmos SDK (software development kit), using the infrastructure provided by this giant, which seeks to be a bridge between the different blockchains of this ecosystem. In addition, it provides service to projects connected through the Interblockchain Communication Protocol (IBC).

Apart from that, several projects are entering on the network and are being popular among users. For example, Stargaze Zone is an IBC NFT launchpad and marketplace, and new launchpad projects drop on mint every Friday at 4:00 PM EST.

In this dashboard we are gonna analyze if the volume fo swaps involving Stars change when new mints are coming. As well, we will see the evolution of STARS volume from March 20th until present.

To be able to extract the best and useful information, I have calculated the following metrics:

• Daily and cumulative STARS volume over time since March 20th
• Inflow and outflow of STARS over time since March 20th
• Netflow of STARS volume
• Average STARS volume moved by hour

Results

In general terms, the STARS volume started with around 5M daily moved tokens over the first month, but then, started to decreased around 2M, losing more than a half of volume activity during the second mid of April. Hovwever, since May, the volume started to increase again, having a peak during the May 11th and 12th days with over 20M of tokens swapped. Then, the volume have been stabilized between 6 and 10M. The cumulative volume over this period is more than 440M of STARS.

In terms of inflow and outflow, we can see how both evolutions looks similars over time, equal to the described in the previous image. It seems like during the major of the days, the incoming volume have been higher than the outcoming. However, when the daily volume experiment a peak, the outcoming volume tends to see higher than the incoming. In fact, if we take a look at the netflow volume, we can see how the inflow volume of STARS have been higher than the outflow since the beginning of the period. However, it seems like the difference has been reduced a little bit during the past days. Currently, a total of 238M of STARS have incomed, while 202M have outcomed, having a netflow of 36M approximatelly.

Finally, looking at the average volume moved on Friday in an hourly basis (Hours in EST time to be sure that we are focusing on 4:00PM correctly), we can see how the major of the users are more active during the first hours of the day (counting since the morning time around 6:00AM). It is due maybe because of they are acquiring the STARS tokens during the day in order to proceed with the mint at 4:00PM. We can see as well how the average volume is lower during and after the event hour.

The second chart shows the distribution of total STARS volume moved on Fridays splitted by the hour. We can see how the major of the volume have been moved at 10:00PM. However, another important hours have been 6:00AM, 12:00AM and 4:00AM, hours previous to the event.

Conclusions and insights

In this dashboard we have explored the volume activity of Stargaze Zone, one of the most prominent projects launched on Osmosis about NFTs. We have investigated about the daily volume swapped of its main token STARS, as well as the impact of its Friday's mint launch every week at 4:00PM.

The main insights have been the following:

• The STARS volume increased in May.
• In the major of the days the volume swapped to STARS is higher than the volume swapped from STARS to other assets, then more users are acquiring it.
• The netflow volume is currently around 36M STARS.
• The major of the users are more active during the first hours of the day maybe because of they are acquiring the STARS tokens during the day in order to proceed with the mint at 4:00PM.
