NFL All Day Preseason

    Conclusion

    In conclusion, the sales analysis of NFL All Day NFTs throughout the 2022 preseason has shown a considerable number and volume of sales. While there were days with a surge in sales, the overall engagement of users and the number of sales had a steady trend. The analysis of holders has indicated that multiple passionate and enthusiastic followers did not hesitate to spend thousands of dollars to have particular NFTs. The analysis of the players and the teams of the NFTs has demonstrated an almost equal distribution of sales between all of the parties involved. There has not been any one particular dominant player or team and everyone had their fair share of sales. Season-wise, 2021 has been the dominant season in which its NFTs were massively traded during the 2022 preseason. It is worth mentioning that the most expensive NFTs belonged to the season before 2000. Among the multiple play types in which the moments were captured, the reception, pass, and rush play types were the dominant ones with the combined share of more than half of the total sales. Last but not least, there has not been one particular player, team, or play type that was responsible for the spikes on the daily sales chart. Even on a single day’s sales surge, multiple parties were involved in the sudden and dramatic increase in the sales number and volume.

    Introduction

    The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league that consists of 32 teams, divided equally between the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). The NFL is one of the major North American professional sports leagues and the highest professional level of American football in the world.

    NFL All Day Moments are video collectibles featuring the NFL’s best and iconic highlights, each one featuring an epic play or performance from around the league. In addition to the highlight, every Moment includes a host of information and visuals regarding the game and the player involved. Each different serial number of a particular play is a unique NFT for fans to own. NFL moments are produced by Dapper Labs and released on the Flow blockchain.

    In this analysis, the sales of NFL All Day NFTs during the 2022 preseason have been investigated and analyzed considering multiple factors including both the sales themselves and the metadata of the NFTs.

    Methodology

    The sales data for this analysis were selected from the ez_nft_sales table and the metadata of the NFTs were selected from the dim_allday_metadata table of the core schema of the Flow database. The time frame of this analysis was limited to the 2022 NFL preseason duration between 4th of August and 28th of August, according to the official 2022 NFL preseason details. The NFTs are sold in only one marketplace and in only one currency with $1 value (DapperUtilityCoin), thus these aspects of the data were not evaluated during this analysis.

    Analysis

    During the 24 days of the NFL’s 2022 preseason, more than 94K NFTs have been sold with a volume of more than $4M with an average price of nearly $40. The number of sellers has been 25% higher than the number of buyers during this period. These NFTs have consisted of moments from nearly 400 players from 36 teams. Also, they have been from 26 different seasons covering 21 different play types.

    Daily Sales

    • The number of daily sales has been higher compared to the number of unique NFTs that were sold. This indicates that some of the NFTs have traded more than once during the preseason;
    • The number of sellers has been higher than the number of buyers for the majority of the preseason, except for the weekend of its first week;
    • The daily and cumulative sales volume have demonstrated that while there were days with a spike in the sales, particularly the 5th, 13th, 19th, and 25th of August, the overall sales have had a linear growth to some extent over the preseason period;
    • The average price of sold NFTs has also correlated with the sales volume, meaning as the demand increased on a particular day, the price of NFTs also increased, ultimately resulting in a higher volume on that day;
    • The NFT sales based on the number of players, their play type, their teams, and the season the moment captured have stayed in a similar range during the period, indicating that almost all of them have had an equal impact on the sales to some degree.
