Sorare Compete With Collectibles
Conclusion
In conclusion, the NFT sales analysis of the Sorare collection has demonstrated that while the NFTs are actively being minted and transferred to users, the sales activity has been stagnated over the past 30 days. Still, there have been cards featuring Diego Maradona or Gareth Bale that were sold for a considerable amount. Overall, cards with Limited scarcity have been more favorable among buyers.
Sales
The player cards of the NBA and MLB have yet to be sold on OpenSea. Therefore, there have been no sales for these two sports at the time of creating this dashboard. However, the parametrized structure allows users to follow the sales in the future. Regardless, the sales of Football cards have been so disconnected and they have not had an obvious trend. There were days with an incredible surge in sales volume, while also there were days with no sales at all. As the low number of sales per day suggested, the sudden increase in the sales volume was the result of a particular card being sold at an unexpectedly high price.
Introduction
Sorare is an online game where players can collect digital cards, create teams with cards from their collection, and earn points based on real-life performances of the players to compete in a variety of fantasy competitions each week, and showcase their skills and go head-to-head with other managers from around the world to rise the weekly rankings and earn rewards. They are able to trade officially licensed digital player cards with other fans in our open marketplace. Players can also choose between Football, NBA, and MLB to create their desired line-up. The digital collectible cards are created as NFTs in Ethereum blockchain.
Methodology
The NFT data of the Sorare collection were selected from the ez_nft_mints, ez_nft_transfers, and ez_nft_sales tables of the Core schema of the Ethereum database by filtering the tables using the NFT contract address attributed to each sport. While it has been long since the availability of Football NFTs, the NBA and MLB cards have been released recently. Hence to be able to compare the activity around the cards of the three sports with each other, the last 30 days were considered as the default time frequency of the analysis. However, viewers are able to change the date range and time interval using the parameters above the page. The metadata for the cards were extracted from the event_inputs column of transactions with a CardAdded event using the fact_event_logs table. Then, the name of players and clubs were manually labelled using the data on OpenSea and etherscan.
Contract Address
The following addresses were used to filter NFTs of each collection:
- Football: 0x629a673a8242c2ac4b7b8c5d8735fbeac21a6205
- MLB: 0xc43c97cfebfe912906c52a268ed5b6e21c8cc39d
- NBA: 0x06bc6bf1432c4f28da6ad2bee7d6e62f91b1b669
Sorare Deployer: 0x7f243bc585dc218d6b33949c02d01ac3b007aaa5
Mints
All of the Sorare cards, regardless of their sport, were first minted to a Deployer address, resulting in an indirect minting process. Considering the process, only the number of mints was analyzable which is presented in the following charts. The Football cards have 75% of the total share, indicating their popularity among the users. Also, while the Football cards have been minted on a daily basis, the cards for NBA and MLB were only minted on particular days throughout the measured period.
Transfers
The NFT transfers have been more active during the measured period compared to mints and sales, again with Football being the dominant sport compared to NBA and MLB. Since the cards are first minted by the Sorare deployer, the majority of the NBA and MLB transfers have been just deploying the cards to the purchasers. Interestingly, the fewer number of receivers compared to senders for Football cards indicates that the market is saturating toward fewer players. Also, there is a possibility that these accounts acquire cards using multiple addresses and then transfer them to their main account.

Cards’ Statistics
The price analysis of traded cards during the measured period has indicated that while a card by Diego Maradona was sold for nearly $500 as the most expensive card, cards of Nicolas Penneteau and Gareth Bale have been slightly more expensive on average. Apart from the clubs that Maradona and other legendary players played at, Real Madrid and Milan have the two modern clubs among the ones with the highest sales volume.
Scarcity of Cards
There are four scarcity tiers among the issued cards with Unique having only 1 card per season, Super Rare having 10 cards per season, Rare having 100 cards per season, and Limited having 1000 cards per season. Overall, more than 90% of the total minted NFTs have Rare scarcity while more than 50% of the season was featured in a Limited card. The distribution of cards for clubs was more balanced while Limited and Rare cards have higher shares. As the name suggests, there are fewer cards with Limited or Unique scarcity. The analysis of the traded NFTs over time has indicated that cards with Limited scarcity have been more favorable among buyers.
