Does $PEPE follow $DOGE?
In 2021, a type of token entered the crypto market called Meme Coins, which were not related to a specific project or platform. Their price growth was such that they caused intense hype at some point of time. Several new Meme Coins entered the crypto market this year. In this dashboard, we will review and compare PEPE from new tokens and DOGE from old tokens.
Pepe Coin ($PEPE) is a new memecoin launched in April 2023, based on the Pepe the Frog meme. It differs from popular doge or Shiba Inu tokens and has experienced a surge in retail interest after a meme coin investor's $250 purchase of 5.9 trillion PEPE tokens ballooned to over $1.8 million. The coin has a stealth launch, no presale, zero taxes, and a burnt liquidity pool, making it community-focused.
In under three weeks, PEPE coin grew from a $100,000 market capitalization to over $1 billion and now has a following of over 255,000 users on Twitter.
Pepe Coin has a simple and transparent tokenomics structure, with a total supply of 420,690,000,000,000 coins and no taxes applied. The majority (93.1%) of the supply is allocated to the liquidity pool, while LP tokens are burnt, and the contract is renounced. The remaining 6.9% is in a multi-sig wallet for future exchange listings, bridges, and liquidity pools, which can be tracked via "pepecexwallet.eth" ENS name. The team behind the initial smart contracts and liquidity pools is completely anonymous, and Pepe Coin is inspired by the Pepe the Frog meme created by artist Matt Furie in 2005, but has no official connection with Furie or the original cartoon character.

Dogecoin was created in 2013 by IBM software engineer Billy Markus and Adobe software engineer Jackson Palmer as a joke version of Bitcoin.
However, people started using it immediately after its release. Although Dogecoin's underlying technology is not considered as useful as Bitcoin or Ethereum, its value has risen by more than 14,000% since the start of 2021, and it currently has a market capitalization of approximately $78 billion, making it the fourth largest cryptocurrency behind Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance Coin.
Dogecoin's surge in popularity can be attributed to endorsements from celebrities such as Snoop Dogg and Gene Simmons.
Additionally, a 2019 Twitter poll elected Elon Musk as Dogecoin's chairman, and he has since issued supportive tweets about the cryptocurrency on his personal Twitter account, which has 53 million followers. Musk's tweets have contributed to Dogecoin's popularity and investment appeal. Recently, DOGE prices rose 7% after Musk posted a photo of a Shiba Inu dog on Twitter.
