The Osmosis wallet with the highest holdings in OSMO on both dates is osmo1fl48vsnmsdzcv85q5d2q4z5ajdha8yu3aq6l09, which had 75.81M OSMO on January 1, 2022, and currently increased it to 218.71M OSMO. 40 of the top 100 OSMO token holders today are still in the top 100 out of the top 100 OSMO token holders at the start of the year.

Liquid, Stake and liquid to staked OSMO change overtime

385 million OSMO liquid and 134.5 million OSMO were staked currently, so the OSMO liquid-to-staked ratio is 2.86. We can see that the liquid-to-staked ratio of OSMO was increasing till May 2022. Still, after this date, we can see a decreasing trend in this ratio over time till October 2022, after then the staked OSMO amount has dramatically reduced, so the ratio of OSMO liquid to staked has increased sharply from the beginning of October 2022 to the present, reaching an all-time high of 2.86 on October 25th.

Also, we can see as the OSMO price reduces, the liquid-to-staked ratio increases, so the users are more willing to have liquid stakes.

Average OSMO per Wallet

13.62k new OSMO wallets received their OSMO for the first time on April 23, 2022, making up the majority of new OSMO wallets.

The average amount of OSMO held has declined till end of April since then average holdings per wallet have climbed somewhat but generally stayed steady.

the ratio of average OSMO holdings to the number of new holders was at its highest on June 8, 2022, with about 13 OSMO per new wallet.

Also, we can see there is a positive relationship between the OSMO price reduction and the average amount of OSMO balance

We can see that most wallets own the majority of OSMO from the total holdings of Osmosis wallets by assets over time charts above. OSMO holdings have continuously made up 80% of the average Osmosis wallet on most of the days.

Following this are ATOM and ION, with about 10% and 6% of the wallet holdings.

Methodology

Using Flipside's new Balances table, we want to take a look at the balance of Osmosis wallets to answer the following questions:

How has the ratio of liquid to staked OSMO changed overtime?
Are the top 100 OSMO holders the same now as they were at the start of the year?
What is the current average OSMO per wallet? How has that value changed over time? Plot average OSMO/wallet against user growth.
Do wallets normally hold a majority of OSMO, or another token? How has this changed over time?

We will limit our data since beginning of 2022.

First, we will try to find information about liquid, staked, and liquid-to-staked ratios and their effective parameters on them; then, we will take a look at Top OSMO holders today, and at the beginning of the year, after that, we will focus on new users and average OSMO amount and finally, we will try to find most popular assets holding by Osmosis users.

What is Osmosis Zone
