What Is a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO)?

A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) is an emerging form of legal structure. With no central governing body, every member within a DAO typically shares a common goal and attempt to act in the best interest of the entity. Popularized through cryptocurrency enthusiasts and blockchain technology, DAOs are used to make decisions in a bottoms-up management approach.

What is Realms?

What is Snapshot? 

Snapshot is a place where projects can create proposals for people to vote on using cryptocurrency. In the industry, this process is called ‘vote signaling’. Traditionally, to vote using cryptocurrency would normally incur fees to process the movement of currency from one wallet to another.

In this dashboard, we will be look at the stats below:

• Votes, voters and proposal statistic from both Realms and Snapshot.
• The general stats on vote, voters, proposal and daos.
• Daily new proposals stats from Realms and Snapshots.
• Daily voters stats from Realms and Snapshots.

Realms and Snapshots statistics

• From here, we can see that Snapshots is outperformed Realms in term of votes, voters, proposal and the Daos numbers.
• On daily basis, the votes from Snapshots is around 100- 200k range since 2022 and it's spike to nearly 700k votes on 11 April 2022. The votes from Realms is around 200- 1000 range and the number did surge together with Snapshot. The highest is around 1586 votes on 18th April 2022.
• The voters on Snapshot is around 40k -60k on an average basis and the highest voters is on 22nd August 2022 which spike to 139k. The voters on Realms is around 200-600 range.
• The total number of propsals in Snapshot is around 1k range on an average basis since 2022 and it's around 100 range for Realm.

Daily stats on new proposals from Realms and Snapshot

• From here, we can see that the new proposals on Realms is steadily increase over time since 2022 and the number always moving around 20-30 new proposals and the highest could reach around 60+ new proposals in a day.
• For Snapshot, the numbers have a big spike around Jan 2022 which is reaching more than 400 proposals in a day and it's dramasctically drop after the beginning of Jan 2022.
• Comparing them both in the same graph, can see that the new proposals in Realms has been steadily increase compare with Snapshot.
• The total proposals created is 54.2k from Snapshot Vs 4.7k from Realms.

Daily stats on new voters from Realms and Snapshot

• From here, we can see that number of voters in Snapshot still overnumbered the voters in Realms and suprisingly there is a big spike on the recent date (2022-08-25) which reaching 65k of voters perticipate in the voting. On Realms, there are an average about 20-30 voters per day and someday there are less than 10 voters in a day. The highest spike for the voters is on 20th June 2022 which reaching 180 voters in a day.
• If we put them on the same graph for comparison, we could hardly see the voters from Realms as the differences are too huge.
• The total voters from Snapshot is 1.145 million Vs 4590 from Realms.

Conclusion:

Overall we can say that Snapshot has more voters and proposals compare to Realms which means Snapshot has greater voting oppportunity and decentralize compare with Realms.
