Hop Protocol - Bridge Users

Q1. How many unique users have bridged to L2s using Hop? What days in the past 6 months have seen the most volume bridged, and were there any specific events that may have driven these spikes? Which assets have been bridged the most? Show an analysis of the asset distribution of bridging through Hop.

    Hop Bridging on ETH

The bridging activity has been rather consistent over the past couple of months. The peak on 1st Jun is likely attributed to the Optimism's airdrop of the OP token. In addition, the pie chart below shows that 64.7% of all bridging volumes were through ETH which isn't too surprising.

    Hop Bridging on Polygon

For Polygon, the bridging has been consistently fluctuating over the past couple of months too. However, the ratio of WETH:USDC in bridged volume starts out from 1:1 during the start of the year before increasing in the favor of WETH as the year progresses.

Wrapped Ether (WETH) has been the most bridged asset from Polygon to other L2s.
It contributes to 50.9% of total bridged volumes in USD.
The second most bridged asset is USDC which contributes to 35.3% of total bridged volume.

    Unique Users on ETH

73.9% of users bridged using ETH whereas 17.3% users bridged using USDC As seen from the area chart below, there's an anomaly on 1st Jun where the no. of unique address was around 5x the usual average. There's a high probability that this is due to the Optimism airdrop as mentioned.

    Unique Users on Polygon

There's an even distribution between users bridging USDC or WETH.
Without more information on where users bridged to, it is hard to identify the reason for the peaks in unique addresses in Jan and May.
