    L2 : Optimism And Arbitrum

    L! : Solana And Flow

    Daily Block Age

    L2 : Optimism And Arbitrum

    L1 Solana And Flow

    Polygon Block Performance

What is the average time between blocks on Polygon?

What was the maximum and minimum recorded time between two blocks? How many transactions are done in a block on average? How do these numbers compare to L1 such as Flow or Solana, or other L2 such as Arbitrum or Optimism?

    Overview

Speed of Each Blockchain is one of Key parameter of Superiority over other competitors. we can define Blockchain speed by ==Number of TX in block== divide by ==Average Blocks Age.==

but ==what is **Block Age **? the time between starting the Block (right after closing previous Block ) and closing the Block.

    Goals

in this article I compare Block Age Polygon vs 2 Ethereum L2 ( Optimism and Arbitrum ) and 2 L1 Blockchain ( Flow and Solana ) and say on Average each Block include how many TX.

in part one i compare some Statics of each blockchain and L2 with Polygon and in second part compare Daily Block Age of Each One. so let’s Start to this statics.

    Polygon Information

I think this card might be clear but need some notice about this Number as bellow:

    1. in all of this Min Block age is 0 Seconds
    2. except Polygon and Optimism, in other Max Block age in so much longer than Average . this might be for some outage happend in blockchain. for example Solana have multiple outage this year or Arbitrum during Galaxy Campaign has so much load and some outage
    3. Polygon has closest Average time to min Block age (lowest average age - min age) and this shows has stable and predictable status
    4. Solana has most TX in each block and lowest average block age so Solana is Fastest Blockchain in this group

as we see and Daily information shows Polygon has most stable status and predictable Block age than other. second place goes to Solana and after than Optimism has third place.

Arbitrum has weird Block Time from 15 to 21 July and this for Odyssey Campaign for Arbitrum and also Flow has weird time in last days

    Conclusion

with this information we can see this result from two side :

    1. raw information : Solana lowest Block Age and largest block also Daily Block age shows has about stable status in last three month.
    2. from experience and information : from information Polygon has most stable status and second speed of TXs after Solana but in real world status has some difference. as my experience when some thing happend in blockchain and blockchains goes under full load most of time Solana has outage and most of TXs fail but in Polygon and i see less this Effect.

in Total I personally choose Blockchain that has both stability and speed instead of just speed and unpredictable action in full load status.
