    DAO Creation contract

When you want to start creating a DAO you have 3 options; Creating a multisig, NFT Community and Token Community. You also have the option to use Realms general contract as ProgramID or having your own ProgramID to have more professional and open options.

In the chart next to this box, you can see that only 9 out of 417 DAOs chose to have their own programID and ~98% chose to work with Realms general contract.

In next two chart below, you can see what are the top contracts created on the Realms general contract and in total, and how many of our aimed contracts are among them.

You see that only 2 of our 10 aimed contract used Realms general contract, probably because they wanted more options in terms of their provided capabilities.

    DAOs Statistics

    • Mango and Serum are the oldest DAOs but we don’t have their creation date since they were created before FlipsideCrypto database coverage timeframe.

    • Since There isn’t a clear relation between the number of proposals and number of vote and members, I introduced Participation Index as a reference for judgment. It represents Number of votes/number of proposals (Or Average Vote Per Proposal) To show activeness of each DAO community.

    1. What Is Realms DAO?

Realms DAO is a decentralized ledger for various types of DAOs on Solana blockchain. in other words, you can imagine Realms DAO like a house or hotel with some standard services that people who seek those services choose to reside there.

    2. What are these services?

The ability to form and run various kind of DAOs for your decentralized protocol (Multisig/NFT-Based/Token-Based).

    3. What Is a DAO Anyway?

DAO Stands for Decentralized Autonomous Organization. It’s having a group of people which have something in common and care enough to take action and participate in building their common future. Members of a DAO have the right to participate in every decision made and propose different paths for DAO itself. No centralized authority can deprive them from their right and all their actions are recorded transparently On-Chain.

    4. How Realms DAO Helps Reaching This Purpose?

DAOs need some platform to execute their action procedure. Imagine a scenario where someone wants to bring forward a formal proposal which determines the future steps of DAO in many aspects. After writing the proposal:

    1. Proposal should be broadcasted with an easy to use and accessible medium which enables active response like voting, group discussion, etc.
    2. People should be able to vote for different options regarding this proposal. For example, Against/For/Abstain.
    3. Voting should consider weights. Based on the eligibility criteria to vote, people’s vote will have different weights. For Example, More token you hold/stake more power your vote has.
    4. Everything should be transparently recorded and the result should have On-Chain finality so no one can change it.

With Realms DAO you have these and some other features as well!

In next section you get to know more about each of our 10+1 DAO. How many proposals they had, How many members and how many votes recorded?

Each DAO information comes with a chart showing the number of unique voters and votes for each proposals. If you notice there is a difference between these two in many cases which indicated the number of changed of cancelled votes. So, It’s OK to see Votes are more than voters!

    Total Realms DAO Stats

As you saw in charts above and next to this box, There seems to be a slight uptrend in number of proposals and members of Realms DAO. Considering we are in a bear market, we could expect a significant decrease in engagement but since this wasn’t the case, it shows how rooted and important the DAOs are for their community.

I take the first On-chain vote timestamp as the creation date for the DAO/Proposal. Otherwise finding the exact transaction required much work. And after all, it is not a DAO if there isn’t a vote yet!

    Some Takeaways:

    • Realms DAO is Growing in terms of number of proposals and members despite being in a bear market with overall reduced engagement.
    • Mostly professional DAOs implement their own programID and most DAOs use General contract.
    • Mango and Serum are the oldest and Solend the newest DAO (Of our 10 investigated DAOs).
    • Imperium Of Rain has the most number of votes and members despite not being among the oldest ones.
    • MangoDAO and MonkeDAO have the most number of proposals.
    • Imperium of Rain has the highest Participation Index.
    • Despite having only 4 proposals, Solend managed to have the third participating grade.

    Data & Analysis

We are going to take a look at some DAOs information on Realms. We will be answering these questions:

    • How many DAOs/Proposals/Members/Votes were there on Realms DAO?
    • How Does it look like for Proposals and Members on a daily and cumulative scale?
    • Which method is more popular when it comes to DAO formation?
    • What are Top contracts created through Realms general contract and those who created independently?

Concentrating on a list of 10 DAOs (MonkeDAO, Mango DAO, Grape, Imperium of Rain, Jet DAO, Synthetify, PSY, Metaplex, Serum, Solend) we will be answering following questions:

    • What are Their number of unique Proposals/Members/Votes?
    • How much interaction each Proposal received?
    • What is the participation index on each DAO?
    • When was their last proposal date?

Solana data on FlipsideCrypto starts from 2021-12-01. So there might be some misinformation in case proposal date goes back from this date. That’s the reason you see some minor differences comparing these information with Realms DAO site.

Our Folks at flipside also have their multisig DAO on Realms DAO with 5 Members! You can see a list of their proposals Here
