Try Quests to earn cryptoVelodrome Locks
In this dashboard, You will read about some basic statistics of Velodrome voting pools, like Popular locking dates and the number of users for different locking dates, Top wallets with most voting power, and top pools by the number of votes they received.
What is Velodrome?
Velodrome Finance is a DEX where you can provide liquidity, trade, and vote to earn from fees generated by the pools. But Velodrome is not exactly like many other DEXs that you might see around these days.
What makes Velodrome different?
They are dedicated to the Optimism chain and offering a solution for protocol liquidity.
How are they doing this?
By changing the emissions stream from liquidity itself to the fees generated by the pools, and incentivizing big stakeholders and protocol to vote for fee emissions for each pool. Theoretically, this should lead to more engagement and a longer locking period to leverage voting power of an equal amount of $VELO
Locking Dates
Users can lock their VELO token for 1 Week, 1 Month, 1 Year or 4 Years. For 1 week of locking Time, you’ll get 0.25 of your locked VELO as your voting power, 0.5 for 1 month, 0.75 for 1 year and 1:1 for 4 year lock.
We want to see which of these locking periods were the most popular in the past month.
- Most concentration is around Jun, July and August so most people are using 1 week or 1 month locking period.
- The highest amount will be unlocked on Dec 22nd with 16 Million VELO.
- There is an option to increase locking period, so if you see locking dated that don’t match the default options, that’s because the user increased it on different occasions.
- But these cases are not much compared to default options. As you can see in the second chart, bars are concentrated around 1 month, 1 year, and 4 year period.
- I distinguish the lock actions based on their deposit type, but still couldn’t figure out what that can represent. If you know, you know!
There are wallets that locked huge amounts of VELO to be able to direct the fee emissions of pools, with the highest with 3.7 Million VELO locked.

Some Notes:
- I’ve used new optimism database of FlipsideCrypto to render this analysis and as this is set up recently, there might be some flaws in data. so, DYOR.
- Votes on pools have weights but i couldn’t managed to find a way to consider them. Consider the fact that number of votes can’t be enough to win a pool.
