Activity with NEAR Blockchain Projects and NEAR Horizon

In this analysis, I have examined the active projects on the NEAR chain over the past year. By thoroughly reviewing the NEAR Blockchain, I have identified the currently active projects.

I determined the number of active projects on the NEAR platform. Based on my findings, I have prepared a detailed report that includes statistical analysis and visualizations. These visualizations aim to clearly understand the current state of active projects on NEAR.

Furthermore, I delved into the activities of these projects over time to identify any discernible trends and changes. By analyzing their historical data, I sought to uncover patterns or shifts in their operations.

Before delving into the definition of active projects on the NEAR chain, let's take a brief overview of the projects that have been launched on the NEAR chain since 2020. It is worth noting that the highest number of projects on the NEAR chain was launched in 2021, with approximately 439 projects being introduced during that year. In 2022, around 278 new projects were launched on the NEAR chain.

As of the six-month mark in 2023, only 11 new projects have been launched on the NEAR chain. Interestingly, more than 80% of these new projects originate from NEAR Horizon, a subset of the NEAR ecosystem I explored in the previous tab.

New Projects in The last Year

In the past year, a total of 95 new projects have been launched on the NEAR chain, averaging approximately 8.6 projects per month. The months with the highest number of new project launches were July, August, and September 2022, reaching a peak of 27 new projects during that period.

However, after this peak, the number of new projects gradually decreased.

Top Projects ( Per Category )

Before delving into the active projects on the NEAR chain, I analyzed the top projects based on the number of unique users in each category. Among these projects, Sweat stood out with the highest number of unique users, boasting 3.13 million unique addresses. In the Ecosystem category, the Tether token secured the second position with 346,000 unique users. PlayEmber, a project in the Devtooling category, took the third spot with 227,000 unique users.

Please refer to the chart below for a comprehensive list of the top projects in each category.

    Methodology

    Define Active Projects:

I classified projects as active based on the following criteria: they had an average of more than 1,000 unique users per month and were older than three months.

I performed a join operation to identify these active projects between the receiver_id column in the Function table and the address column in the Near label table. This allowed me to extract the names of the projects. Subsequently, I analyzed the activities and label types associated with these projects.

Regarding the Horizon subset, I utilized the New Table of Horizon to determine the names of the projects. I obtained the necessary information by joining this table with the Near label table.
