Layer 2 Blocks

    What will You Read?

In This Analysis, You Will Read about Layer 2 blocks. We Want to know How many layer2 StarkNet blocks have been accepted on Ethereum (L1) chain so far? How much fees have been paid(generated) to the Ethereum network? Has StarkNet contributed to saving in transaction fees for its users?

    What is Starknet?

What is StarkNet? StarkNet is a permissionless decentralized ZK-Rollup. It operates as an L2 network over Ethereum, enabling any dApp to achieve unlimited scale for its computation – without compromising Ethereum's composability and security.

    Method

    • First I used tokenflow_starknet.l1_data.blocks table and extracted L1_transactions. Then I used ethereum.core.fact_transactions table and filtered my result based on L1_transactions as a tx_hash. After that, I calculated all the requested questions.

    • I added average swap fees and other Ethereum activities to compare with Starknet.

The below chart shows the total and cumulative daily transactions.

    • The only thing that we can understand from this chart is that total transactions increased from May 9th.
    • The total cumulative number is 2881 transactions.
    • The total transactions are about 2881 transactions.
    • This graph shows the total daily StarkNet blocks that have been accepted on Ethereum (L1) chain.
    • The total number of StarkNet blocks that have been accepted on the Ethereum (L1) chain is about 1.4M.

The below chart shows the total and average daily fees that have been paid to Ethereum.

    • The highest amount of Fees that were paid happened on May 11th with 2.9 ETH.
    • The second highest fees were paid on November 26th with 1.4 ETH.
    • The average daily fees decreased From February until May.
    • After May the average fees increased again.
    • The total fees that were paid to Ethereum is nearly 50 ETH.

In the below chart I compared the average daily Fees between Starknet, Swaps on Ethereum, and other activities.

    • What is clear is that the average fees daily of Starknet were lower than Ethereum swaps on Most days.
    • As you can see the average fees were about half of Ethereum.
    • In comparison to other activities on Ethereum the average fees were some days lower and some days higher.

    Conclusion

    • 1.4 Mlayer2 StarkNet blocks have been accepted on Ethereum (L1) chain.
    • About 50 ETH fees have been paid(generated) to the Ethereum network.
    • According to the average Swap fees, StarkNet contributed to saving in transaction fees for its users.
