Lido Rocket Pool Comparison
In this article, You will read about two staking platforms. Lido and rocket pool. You will see their comparison in the charts. The number of deposits, the total amount of deposits, and the total amount in USD over time.
All data from this presentation is from 2022-01-01.
Lido is a liquid staking solution for ETH 2.0 backed by industry-leading staking providers. Lido lets users stake their ETH - without locking assets or maintaining infrastructure - whilst participating in on-chain activities, e.g. lending.
Rocket Pool is an ETH2 proof of stake protocol which is designed to be decentralized, trustless and compatible with Ethereum 2.0. The main idea behind the protocol is to cater to people who want to stake and people who want to stake and run their own nodes.
When a user deposits their ETH, In Lido, they get stETH instead of their ETH, and in Rocket pool, they get rETH instead of their ETH. So in this article, when we talk about stETH and rETH, it means ETH. To separate them into charts, I used this method.
I used Ethereum Core tables to find deposits on these platforms. I set stETH and rETH contract addresses and found every transaction sent from Null Address.
After that matched my result with the price table to calculate the total amount in USD.
You will see charts based on four metrics:
-
Daily total number of Users
-
Daily total amount of deposited ETH
-
Daily total amount of Deposited ETH in USD
-
Daily Average Depisted ETh
Paragraph
So far, We have examined users on Lido and Rocket pool. Now, it's time to compare Lido and Rocket pool in the total amount of deposited ETH.
We already know that Lido has more users than Rocket pool. The highest amount of ETH deposited on Lido is on March 15th, with 197K ETH.
The highest amount of ETH depicted on Rocket pool is on March 10th with 4.5K ETH.
It seems March is the best month for both platforms. The highest amount was deposited in that month.
Both platforms have grown since January.
In the below chart, I examined the total number of Rocket pool and Lido users since the beginning of the year. As you can see, Lido has more users than Rocket pool. In January , Daily total users and number of deposited ETH on Lido was about 150-250. But In Rocket pool was about 5-15.
In March Feb 11th, March 6th and 27th we can see trends on Lido user growth and From March 10th until 19th, we can see growth On Rocket pool.
The result of the below chart is similar to the previous chart. You can see total amount of ETH in USD in the below chart.
When I'm writing this article, The below chart doesn't work very well. The result in the code is correct but in Dashboard shows only the Lido average.
The below chart shows the daily average of deposited ETH on both Platforms. On some days, Rocket pool flipped Lido and took first place in this chart.
In comparing two of these platforms, 97% of ETH deposits happened on Lido and only 3% went through Rocket pool.
