Osmosis Governance
In this Analysis, You WIll Read about Osmosis Governance. We want to know, On average, how long does it take for a new wallet to become active in Osmosis governance? Do wallets that are active in governance vote on every proposal? Or do they only vote on select proposals?
Osmosis is an automated market maker (AMM) protocol that allows developers to create bespoke AMMs with sovereign liquidity pools. Osmosis, which was built with the Cosmos SDK, makes use of Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) to facilitate cross-chain transactions.
The Question asked about New wallets. So I found the first transactions of each user on osmosis.core.fact_transactions with min Date formula. Then I filtered users that their first transactions were after 2022. These are my new wallets.
After that, I joined My findings with osmosis.core.fact_governance_votes table to calculate votes.
On average, it takes 16 days for new users to become active in Osmosis governance. It means new wallets 16 days after their first transaction, they voted.
I divided the total unique users based on how long it took to vote. About 34% of new users voted on osmosis proposals on the same day that recorded their transactions. it takes more than a month that new users to register their first vote, which is 20% of total users. 18% of new users voted under 5 days after becoming active in the Osmosis network.
14% of new wallets participated only in one Osmosis proposal. It means they selected one proposal to vote. 30% of new users participated in 2-5 proposals. 15% of new users voted on 11-20 proposals. Only 0.5 of new users participated in more than 100 proposals.
The below chart shows the total number of voters for each proposal. About 47.5K of new users participated in Proposal number 206. Only 8 new wallets participated on proposal number 114.
The average number of new users that participated in Osmosis governance is nearly 19K.
