$UNI Transfers - CEX to DEX and DEX to CEX
In this analysis, we will explore the $UNI token, which is the native token of Uniswap. Specifically, we will focus on the transfers between centralized exchanges (CEXs) and decentralized exchanges (DEXs), excluding regular user transactions.
I thoroughly examined the $UNI token on the Ethereum blockchain, specifically analyzing the weekly transfers and identifying the top CEXs as both senders and receivers. I also delved into the other aspect of transfers, identifying the leading DEXs as senders and receivers based on the number of transactions and the amount of $UNI tokens transferred since January 2022.

Let's begin by analyzing the UNI token transfers between centralized exchanges (CEXs) and decentralized exchanges (DEXs). When examining the number of transactions, we observed that the inflow and outflow of $UNI tokens were relatively similar, indicating no significant abnormal activities within a specific timeframe.
However, there was an exception during the crash of the FTX exchange, which resulted in a notable increase in the total number of UNI token transfers from DEXs to CEXs. During this period, the number of transfers from DEXs to CEXs exceeded those from CEXs to DEXs. In the subsequent tabs, we will delve deeper into identifying the specific CEX and DEX platforms that had a notable impact on that day.
Following January 2023, when the cryptocurrency market experienced an uptick in token prices, there was a significant drop in weekly UNI token transfers.
When analyzing the volume of UNI token transfers, a stark contrast of 100% difference was observed between the volume to decentralized exchanges (DEXs) and the volume from DEXs. Based on the provided charts, users transferred 99 million $UNI tokens from DEXs to centralized exchanges (CEXs), while 53 million $UNI tokens were transferred from CEXs to DEXs.
Examining the data since January 2022, it was evident that the highest transferred volume occurred during the crash of the FTX exchange. During that particular week, the total amount of $UNI tokens transferred to CEXs increased by a factor of 5, reaching 6.6 million tokens. Simultaneously, the amount transferred to DEXs also experienced a significant increase, growing by a factor of 6 and reaching 3 million tokens. However, following this event, the transferred volume gradually declined. It is worth noting that the crashes of Luna and UST did not have a comparable impact on the UNI token when compared to the FTX incident.
Overall, the volume of transfers to DEXs amounted to 363 million US dollars, while the volume to CEXs reached 99 million US dollars.
During January 2022, there were notable months in terms of the transferred amount of $UNI tokens. November emerged as the top month for transfers to centralized exchanges (CEXs), with 15.9 million $UNI tokens being transferred.
On the other hand, July stood out as the leading month for transfers to decentralized exchanges (DEXs), with 7.5 million $UNI tokens being transferred.
