What makes a Top Shots moment valuable? (Part II)

    Introduction

    • In this dashboard, You will Read about NBA Top Shots especially Play Type NFTs. I went through this category and analyzed these parameters:

    • Sales

    • Buyers and Sellers

    • Total Sales Volume/Average Volume

    • Users Breakdown

    • Holders Vs. Non Holders

    • NFT prices

Analyzed by Hess - Reading Time Almost 10 Min.

    Method

    • First, I extracted NFT ids and Play types from flow.core.dim_topshot_metadata table. Then, I joined my findings into the NFT sales table on Flow. Sales recorded with two currencies. Dapp Utility which is like USDC and Flow Token. Fortunately, We have a Price table on the Flow chain. I extracted the Flow price and calculate the sales volume in USD.

    Holders Vs. Non-Holders

    • It is true that Rim has the highest number of holders but Rim has the highest number of non-holders too. If we compare these play types based on lower non-holder and higher Holder, I can say 3 Pointer or Assist are in a good situation.

A Summary of the Most Important Findings

    • Based on the Number of Sales, RIM has the highest weekly share in comparison to other play types. About 40-50% of weekly sales are Rim play types. After Rim, 3 Pointer and assist have the highest number of sales.
    • Between April and May, The total number of buyers and sellers increased but after that decreased over time. Rim, Assist, 3 Pointer has the highest number of buyers and sellers.
    • With 39M US dollars, Rim has the highest sales volume since January. 3 Pointers had 15M US dollars in sales.
    • Dunk and Reel have the highest average NFT prices.
    • If we compare Holders Vs. Non-holders, Assist and 3 Pointers have a better situation.
    • A large group of users have bought one NFT and spent 10-100 US dollars.

    Full Analysis

    Sales and Users

    • Since January 2022, The weekly share of Play type sales didn’t change too much. All types kept their shares over time. The highest number of sales and growth was for Rim. 3 Pointer is in second place and Assist is in third place.

    Sales Volume

    • Like the number of sales, The sales volume per play Type didn’t change too much. I mean there wasn’t any play type that increased for a short time or grew long-term. All of them kept their growth in sales. I can see only During April, Block and Mid-range sales volume increased in comparison to others. With a huge difference, Rim has the highest sales volume.

    • Between April and May, The total number of buyers and sellers increased significantly and after that dropped over time. Like the transactions, Rim, 3 Pointer and Assist had the highest number of buyers and sellers. What is different is Block and Midrange sales increased during that time.
    • Rim has the highest sales share. About 50% of transactions were related to the Rim play type. 3 Pointer with a huge difference with Rim and 13% is in the second place.
    • Dunk and Reel have the highest average sales in USD. However, Those play types didn’t have too many sales but the average sales was higher than other types.

Based on Max weekly sales, Dunk and 2 Pointer are in top play types. In other parameters, Rim, 3 Pointer and Assist were in the Top 3. I can’t see 3 Pointer and Assist in this category but Rim is.
