What is solana?

Solana is a public blockchain platform with smart contract functionality. Its native cryptocurrency is SOL. Solana offers low fees and fast transaction times. Solana smart contracts are written in Rust rather than solinity.

What is the candy machine on Solana?

Candy Machine is a tool that utilizes the Metaplex CLI to generate an NFT, link a picture and relevant metadata to the NFT token, and setup a "fair auction." A "fair auction" really consists of two separate pieces. The first of which is that it starts at the same time for everyone. No pre-sales!

Observations

Most of the NFT Collections Minted on the Candy machine had less than 2,000 minters.
A large majority of projects that had over 30,000 in SOL mint volume had over 4,000 MInters.
There is a big difference between the average and median SOL volume by collection because there is a group of suppersucessfull outlier that are moving the average much higher than the median.

Conclusion

Most NFT collections seem to make a majority of their Money from the min of the NFT, but the most popular collections seem to make multiples of their Mint Profits from Resale volume over time.
Okay Bears had made over 127,000 SOL from royalty fees.
