Governace Activity Solana vs. Ethereum

    What is Ethereum?

Ethereum is a decentralized, open-source blockchain with smart contract functionality. Ether is the native cryptocurrency of the platform. Among cryptocurrencies, ether is second only to bitcoin in market capitalization. Ethereum was conceived in 2013 by programmer Vitalik Buterin.

    What is Solana?

Solana is a blockchain platform designed to host decentralized, scalable applications. Solana can process many more transactions per second and charges lower transaction fees than rival blockchains like Ethereum.

    What is DAO Governace?

On-chain governance is a system for managing and implementing changes to cryptocurrency blockchains. In this type of governance, rules for instituting changes are encoded into the blockchain protocol. Developers propose changes through code updates and each node votes on whether to accept or reject the proposed change.

    Methodology

In this dashboard we will look at the voting activty of users on both Etherum and Solana. The data for this dashboard will come from the ethereum.core and the solana.core tables of flipsides database. All the data for this dashboard will come from after the start of 2022.

    • The number of proposals on Ethereum has been declining since the start of the year while the number of proposals on Solana has been increasing.
    • Most days there are 20X to 100X the number of voters on Ethereum than on Solana.
