Osmosis Governance

Create a dashboard that maps community participation in governance. On average, how long does it take for a new wallet to become active in Osmosis governance? Do wallets that are active in governance vote on every proposal? Or do they only vote on select proposals?

Introduction

What is Osmosis?

Osmosis is a decentralized peer-to-peer blockchain that people can use to create liquidity and trade IBC enabled tokens. The Osmosis blockchain is made up of free, public, and open-source software.

How does Osmosis governance work ?

Any OSMO holder can participate directly in Osmosis governance via the Osmosis app or CLI, and any OSMO holder may submit a new governance proposal by submitting a small deposit which functions to prevent spam. Delegators inherit the vote of the validator they are delegated to unless the delegator actively submits a vote themselves, which overrides their inherited vote.

Methodology

We will look at the daily votes on Osmosisis and then number of Votes by proposal
We will look to see how active osmosis governance participants are

Observations

The average Osmosis gavernance participan is very active with the average voter voting on nearly 20 proposals.
Voting on Osmosis Peaked in April 2021.

Conclusion

In March and April of 2021 the Number of users participating in governance proposals on osmosis was over 50,000 many times.
The voting active on osmosis is up over 5x than at the beginning of year in terms of voters.
The average Osmosis governance participan is very active with the average voter voting on nearly 20 proposals.
