What are NFTs?

A non-fungible token is a record on a blockchain that is associated with a particular digital or physical asset. The ownership of an NFT is recorded in the blockchain and can be transferred by the owner, allowing NFTs to be sold and traded.

What is Flow?

FLOW is a cryptocurrency that powers Flow, a layer one blockchain and smart contract platform. FLOW can be used to pay for transactions, vote on the future of the network, and be staked by validators to secure the network.

What is Ethereum?

Ethereum is a decentralized, open-source blockchain with smart contract functionality. Ether is the native cryptocurrency of the platform. Among cryptocurrencies, ether is second only to bitcoin in market capitalization. Ethereum was conceived in 2013 by programmer Vitalik Buterin.

What is Solana?

Solana is a blockchain that achieves consensus using a proof-of-stake mechanism and a "proof-of-history" mechanism. Proof of history enables the network to operate faster because nodes do not need to communicate to validate a block. The Solana whitepaper describes this design as a decentralized clock. Proof of history enables network participants to have a high degree of certainty that an event took place at a specific moment in time.

Methodology

In this dashboard, we will compare sales, volume, users, and top collections of NFT ecosystems on Flow, Ethereum, and Solana. The data that we will use for this dashboard is from near.core, flow.core, ethereum.core, and solana.core tables. The data for this dashboard will start on April 20th, 2022.

Near NFT Activity

Observations

• Most days there are between 200 and 1,000 NFTs minted on NEAR and between 500 and 3,000 NFTs sold on NEAR.
• At the beginning of 2022, there was a large spike in both NFT sales and mints.
• There have been 13 days this year where thee were over NFT sales on NEAR in 2022.
• Since the start of September 2022 most days, there are less than 200 NFT sales on Near

Flow NFT Activity

Observations

• There have been 5.96 Million NFTs sold on Flow for a total price of 150.7 million USD
• 5 Flow NFT collections had over 5.4 million USD in sales volume since April 20th 2022
• The number of NFT sales events on Flow has been consistently decreasing since April 20th 2022

Solana NFT Activity

Observations

• There have been 13.21 Million NFTs sold on Solana for a total price of 1.04 billion USD since April 20th 2022
• 2 Solana NFT collections had over 20 Million USD in sales volume since April 20th 2022
• The number of NFT sales events on Solana has been consistently decreasing since mid-September 2022

Ethereum NFT Activity

Observations

• There have been 9.85 Million NFTs sold on Ethereum for a total price of 13.07 billion USD since April 20th 2022
• 2 Ethereum NFT collections had over 1 Billion USD in sales volume since April 20th 2022
• The number of NFT sales events on Ethereum has been consistently decreasing since mid-September 2022
