What is Flow?

Flow is a blockchain platform that originally was designed for gaming purposes, but has expanded since its launch in 2020. The flow blockchain enables fast, low-cost transactions and supports smart contracts. It powers blockchain applications including NBA Top Shot, a non-fungible token (NFT) offering.

What is DEFI?

Decentralized finance offers financial instruments without relying on intermediaries such as brokerages, exchanges, or banks by using smart contracts on a blockchain.

What is proof of stake?

Proof-of-stake protocols are a class of consensus mechanisms for blockchains that work by selecting validators in proportion to their quantity of holdings in the associated cryptocurrency. This is done to avoid the computational cost of proof-of-work schemes.

Methodology

In this dashboard, we are looking to see the price of tokens on flow and what people are doing with those tokens. we will look at token price token swaps and token delegation. The data for this dashboard will come from the flow.core tables of Flipside’s database.

Observations

The price of the flow tokens that are not stable coins have been declining since the start of 2022 and longer for some tokens
At the beginning of 2022 and the beginning of summer 2022, there was a spike in flow dex volume and swaps
About 75% of the swap events and volume on Flow are swapped for stablecoins

Flow Staking Volume Activity

Observations:

Since the end of 2021 there have not been large staking or un-staking events on Flow.
In total there is 669 million flow staked on the chain currently.
2/3rds of all stake volume has been withdrawn.
