What is Flow?

Flow is a blockchain platform that originally was designed for gaming purposes, but has expanded since its launch in 2020. The flow blockchain enables fast, low-cost transactions and supports smart contracts. It powers blockchain applications including NBA Top Shot, a non-fungible token (NFT) offering.

What is a FLOW Token?

The FLOW token is the native currency for the Flow network and the apps, games, and smart contracts built on top of the Flow blockchain, and thus the currency is guaranteed to be available for developers and users to transact with on the network.

What is a Whale?

In this dashboard we are going to define flow whales as the top 50 holder of the FLOW token.

Methodology

In this dashboard, we are looking to find the top holders of the FLOW token. Additionally, we are looking to see what these whales are doing with their tokens. The data for this dashboard will come from the flow.core tables of Flipside’s database.

Top Flow Wallets by Flow Balance

Observations

• There are two flow wallets with much more tokens than any other flow wallet by over 3x
• The average flow wallet is holding ~300 FLOW and the median wallet is holding under 1 FLOW
• All of the top 20 flow-holding wallets have over 8.5 Million flow tokens
• Many of the large FLOW token holders are NFT and marketplace contracts

Observations

• In the past 60 days, the Whales on Flow have increased their flow tokens by 14.2 Million
• On November 15th the top wallets had their largest flow token inflow at over 9.7 Million
• The median Daly token flow of the top wallets is negative in usually an outflow, but inflow have a high volume.
