    Introduction

The NFL (National Football League) All Day is a Dapper Platform for NFT marketplace that interested parties can buy and sell Moment NFTs of their favorite teams and players . Moments are NFTs of a player’s highlights (moments). Individuals can collect their favorite highlights which are unique and licensed by NFL and NFLPA (NFL Players Association).

The NBA Top Shots is another similar Dapper platform that makes it possible for users to collect highlights of basketball stars in the form of NFTs. Both markets use the same platform on, although NBA has additional payment options. In this dashboard we will analyze the sales volume of the NFL All Day and compare it to NBA top Shots.

    Methodology

Sales volume of NFL All Day platform can be found by looking at the nft_sales table. Each Moment has a specific NFT_ID and is categorized in a Tier and Series. Tiers are divided into four categories as:

    1. Common NFTs Comprising more than 95% of Total Moments
    2. Rare NFTs with 2.5% share
    3. Legendary 1.6%
    4. Ultimate with less than 0.1% of total Moments

Unfortunately data does not indicate the tier of the NFT, however by exploring the market place we can find their tiers from their prices as they differ by large amount across tiers.

The prices provided in the table are in Dapper Utility Coin currency, after an extensive deep dive, it can be found that the price indicated is the same as USD price. The market place does not directly specify the ID of the nfts as they are recorded on the table. In order to find the price of the Dapper Utility Coin, first a specific Legendary Moment was chosen that was sold previously. The item was found on the table by searching through the purchase timestamp as was stated on the website. After confirming that the price in the table is equivalent to USD price, The NFT ID was noticed on the URL bar that corresponds exactly to the NFT_ID field of the nft_sales table.

To find the total sales volume, first a more granular approach was taken by looking at the daily sales volume. Later We find the total sales volume by summing over the daily values.

The same procedure is also taken for the NBA Top Shots Platform and it is compared to the NFL All Day. Finally we take a look at the top 100 popular NFL All Day NFTs by basing the popularity on the number of sales for the given ID.

3 Types of sale volume is provided. Since the platform takes 5% of the sold price, we can divide the total volume sold into to market place revenue and sellers revenue parts.

    The Daily Analysis

From the daily volume sales we can see that it has been experiencing a downtrend. There are days with little to no activity of sale. There are no data on sales volume from June 15-23, This could be due to the declaration of Juneteenth as a national holiday or Unavailability of data or a dip in the NFTs in Sports.

    NFL vs NBA Popularity

The popularity of NBA events, stars and highlights over those of NFL also extends to the world of NFTs. This can be observed in two ways:

    1. From the Top 100 price charts, we see that popular NFTs have higher sales count on average and nominally. The top 100 NFTs with average prices calculated over the number of times they were sold and their maximum sell price has higher values for NBA compared to NFL Moments.
    2. The overall total sale volumes of NBA Top shots is 3.3 times of that of NFL All Day’s.

    Conclusion

NBA Top Shots was the gateway for the integration of sports entertainment with NFTs.

Dapper Labs has provided an entire platform specific for this adoption, and it points to the community’s role in the success of the platform [1].

Both NBA and NFL are National Leagues of basketball and football in United States, thus the NFT integration to Sports has a long road ahead of it in other areas of sports and also in countries with their specific fan domains.

Resell of the NFTs have created large amounts of revenue for the platforms involved as can be seen from the table. This amounts to $1.5M for NBA and $0.5M for NFL NFTs.

In my opinion, although it is just the beginning, creating platforms such that they are scalable and extendable to other areas of Sports entertainment for all countries will determine its success.
